My thank you / tribute to Ms. Ronstadt: "Linda, back in the day"
From 1977's "Simple Dreams" album. a high-water mark in her collaborations with Peter Asher. Best-known tracks from this one: Buddy Holly's "It's So Easy," Roy Orbison's "Blue Bayou," Warren Zevon's "Poor Poor Pitiful Me," and The Rolling Stones' "Tumbling Dice." ESSENTIAL Linda Ronstadt on this one, folks.

From 1976's "Hasten Down The Wind." This was more of a "songwriters showcase" album and less of an "FM radio hit package." Zevon supplied the title track (one of her most heartfelt performances). She covers Willie Nelson's "Crazy" and Buddy Holly's "That'll Be The Day." Also featured is a signature tune from Karla Bonoff, "Someone To Lay Down Beside Me."
