Since then, my skills have, shall we say, gone to shit...

Actually, I got a 241 once. Just once. Only time I ever broke over 190, which is weird. I was just in a zone. We played another game, and I only got @175, so it wasn't an all-night zone, just a 10 frame zone.

I'm not that great, though, considering how long I've been bowling, my average is 147, and has been that way for years.

They all think they're the one, I think their sphincters would tighten in that league!

sanctioned league so I got a patch for 100 pins over average and a neato wristwatch. Otherwise I really suck at bowling.

I had the first eight strikes in a row, then I got a solid four pin in the ninth. That was in practice, though. My best game in a league is 269. I did that when I was 14 and with a 14 lb. ball.

I was crossing over and getting strikes. I remember I got one when I hit it straight on the head pin which usually would have resulted in a split, but they all went down somehow. I was still a pretty good bowler at 14. Not 269 good, though. My average was around 180 at the time. I'd been bowling since I was 9.

17. Three sanctioned 300s

and several non-sanctioned ones. My high series was 823 (300-289-234). Former Regional PBA member. I haven't bowled in a league or serious tournament for 13 years, but I still shoot in the 210/220 range when I go out with the kids. Hurts a lot more than it used to!

The side pots are handicap-scratch-handicap, and on both handicap games he lost out..:) His average was 237

The cool part, is that he did it with his parents and girlfriend there..(They all bowled on the same team )

32. I remember when PBA old-timer Glenn Allison did that

in San Diego (I think). The kind folks at the ABC woulddn't sanction it based due to the lane conditions. Funny, he bowled on the same pair in the early league and shot a 560 series.

Any time I see someone bowl below 182, it's schadenfreude time: "Ha, ha! I could beat you!" Not too surprisingly, this happens with some frequency on "Hawaii TV Bowling".

37. I hate to admit this, but it's 296. I choked like a congested canine.

I'm a lefty, I had the first eleven strikes playing an outside line, I thought I'd wind up pulling the ball on the last shot, so I swung my twelfth shot out as far as I safely could, only to see the ball flatten and leave the 1-3-6-7.

Not my finest moment.

Before anyone asks, my next highest is 258, and the number of 240+ games I've had outside of these two can be counted on one hand, so this was really a fluke that I failed to convery. :(

42. It has been ages since I've bowled

I use to take middle school kids bowling, and they always had better score than I did. I even took bowling as a P.E. class. I started with an 96, but by the end of the class I had a 72. The instructor still gave me a B since I never missed a class.

Nobody in the group I bowled with took the game seriously, so we had a whole lot of fun while we bowled. It was like going to a mini-party ever other day. I really loved the class.

I guess if I knew then that I was dsylexic, I would have realized that I should aim a bit to the right of the center in order to hit center. Nahhhh....the laughing that leads to gutter balls will always be to hard to over come.
