Why do Wally and the Beaver have to share a bedroom?

Have you ever noticed how big the Cleavers' house is? Ward and June have the master bedroom, of course ... well, now that I think about it, I don't even know that. I can't remember ever seeing them in their bedroom. Whenever you see Ward or June, it's always in the living room or the kitchen or the front parlor or the den or the hall or the boys' bedroom, never in the master bedroom. But I assume Ward and June are not sleeping in separate bedrooms, that they share the master bedroom. Which takes care of ONE of the bedrooms in that big house. So WHY do the only two other people living in that house have to share a bedroom? How many other bedrooms do you suppose there are in that big house? It looks like a three- or four- or perhaps five-bedroom house to me. Am I the only person who ever wonders about this when watching "Leave It To Beaver"?

12. It was a different era.

Back when I was a child (when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and all that), a good many kids shared bedrooms, and a lot of houses only had one bathroom. Nowadays it seems every house needs a couple of full baths, plus a "powder room" (what we used to call a half bath).

Besides, if they have a spare room, maybe it's used for guests or June's sewing room, or Ward's study. :-)

My guess is that there were 2 bedrooms upstairs, the parents and the boys. In the dark ages when I grew up, children ususally shared a room.

When I was little, a kid rarely had his or her own room. A brother and sister sometimes shared a room when they were little kids.

Ward did have a study; he would often be in there doing some work, or doing bills. And I believe they also had a guest bedroom.

15. They had a guest bedroom

In one episode, Beaver and Wally couldn't get along so Beaver moved into the guest room. He got scared in the middle of the night and went back to his old room.

Did you ever see the one where Beaver was scolded for selling water ti the neighbors after he found out the water was going to be shut off? The neighbors complained to Ward and Ward told the Beave it was not right to exploit people. The RW would have had that episode canned!!

17. My friend's children shared a bedroom until recently

They have two children and a 3 bedroom house. The sisters are very close and shared a room. The other bedroom was mostly empty aside from a few things stored in there. The older one, 13, recently decided that she wanted her own room. The younger, 9, was rather upset about that.
