About the hate mailbag.......
How come these idiots who send all that trashy email are so damned illiterate? I think there were just a couple without massive and horrendous spelling errors, and the educational level of those correspondents in general is severely lacking in any virtue except blatant ignorance, hatred, prejudice and common sense.

I suppose that many of those who were in the educational system from 1968-1976, 1980-1992, or 2000-present are obviously showing off the benefits of Republican controlled public school systems, or perhaps the result of far right fundamentalistic home schooling.

I would hate to see how many of these morons function in real life--or is that simply too much to ask for, that they function at all?

1. You don't think that Shrub would attract
intelligent, thoughtful people to his cause, do you? He caters to fear and prejudice, and the more ignorant the better.

7. Agreed
I still post to the Caboose, but avoid the Sub at all costs. I feel freed without that hanging over me all the time!! At least here, there is a sense of validation, which is comforting. :)

13. Yeah!
There is a loss in the metaphysical forum as well with you gone. There is very little thought or rumination there without people to ask the important questions. :)

Perhaps someday you can return to the Caboose and the Well, and avoid the Sub as I am now. The Sub is only for those who consider themselves masochists!

One of the group, Kramsret, is a California delegate to the convention next week. Steve (Dimmercritic) and I will be meeting him Tuesday afternoon for dinner. I'll give him your regards as well.

Keep in touch!

3. I think this is that "base" that Bush keeps referring to...
People who are better educated and can actually evaluate issues have a tendency to be more rational. Ergo, they are usually more "liberal" (i.e. common-sense) in their views and can also spell.

Those who are not are often honest and heart-felt in their views, but in the end, they are still S-U-C-K-E-R-S!!! Also known as dupes, gulls, marks, prey and republicans!

6. No...
We must remember that they are "home skooled" by Momma ("Ahm'ma gonna teach mah children at home"), so they can escape the horrible Godless-ness of a real public school education. So keep homeschooling your children, Republicans- it just makes it that much easier for us to climb the Corporate ladders.

10. sorry to point this out...but there are many home schooled
kids who win awards because of their abilities. National spelling bee top spellers seems to be home schoolers....not all....but several....so someone is doing a good job.....

14. Some, but not all
There are some home-schooled children who have turned out ok, I'll admit. As you said, some have won spelling bee contests and the like. The point of my post was, it's very scary to me that some parents who have trouble with multiplication tables, who have (to put it nicely) a "lesser level of intelligence", decide to "home school" their children, most of the time based on an incorrect fear that public schools have become "unholy, atheist-communist training centers". What type of citizens will those home-schooled children become?

16. I understand that
There are many home-schooled who are intelligent and well-educated. It's not all those who are home-schooled, but those who are far right fundamentalists, who are barely above high school level education themselves, who are the ones I worry about--those who teach creationism, not evolution, who refuse to teach most sciences, who refuse to educate their children about sex education, who likely don't give their kids well-rounded educations that are on par with other educational facilities.

I have discussed this subject with others at one point, and I realize that the school system does fail at times, and some prefer what they can do at home for their kids. It's only when I see the "blind leading the blind" that I cringe in terror.

17. ME tooo
rw home school are doing their children a dis service...it will be harder for them to cope in the big world later...

I do have friend who home schooled. Not sure what I think. I know the public schools in trying to be all things to all people sometimes squashes ADD type people who need activity and more creative ways of learning...because talking heads are awful for them....

But I also don't think religion schools are the answer either.....

and having so many divergent views of what we allow in libraries and in textbooks....is tufff....

taking out of health books....information about condoms and such makes absolutly no sense...and yet just the other day...that was in the news..

blind leading the blind.....is awfull....having people like tom delay or rush...and pat robertson influencing our schools is also awfull....

but parents are going to be more likely to take kids out of schools for safety....if we do not get a handle on the problems... I know I would not want to be a teacher in the public schools today...because it is not safe.....

9. I was suprized.....I guess I never thought of people sending stuff
like that. Very interesting read though. I know every time some one talks about spelling, it makes me conscious of my typing... because I mess up ...and some words I can't spell.

Just find it interesting that people would write stuff like that to a group that is obviously not to their liking and has not done anything to them....although I want to 'shake' their little necks...and try to wake them up.....

but I can't ..so I won't...
