In darkness, what can men speak but unfounded questions?
In darkness, what can men do but wait?

In darkness, what can men think but of sadness?
In darkness, what can men feel but hate?

The suffering of one can mean nothing to the many
And the suffering of many can mean nothing to one.

For in darkness, what can men do but forget all else...
But the fact that their reality's undone.

In the search for nourishment I found starvation
In the search for honesty I found deceit

In the search for wealth I found debt
And in the search for love I found hate

In the search for truth I found more lies
In the search for sanity I lost my mind

In the search for generosity I found greed
And in the search for simplicity all were intertwined

In the search for understanding I found confusion
In the search for friends I found enemies

In the search for compassion I found apathy
And in the search for healing I found disease

In the search for liberty I found oppression
In the search for life I found death

In my search for everything I found nothing
And in the search for salvation I lost my faith

For every reaction there is an action
A cause to the madness around me

For every life there is influence
I abandoned the way you found me

For every breath there is new hope
And a wish for the past reborn

From all the knowledge that I gained
All my beliefs were torn

For every dawn that brings new life
brings with a chance to pretend

One man's beginning that you saw
Was not another man's end.
