More Arizona sunset photos
Well it's been a slow week for me, but I managed to get a couple of nice looking sunset shots for your viewing pleasure.

By the way if the person who suggested that I send my previous sunset pics to kold 13 is here THANKS! my favorite of the three was used and broadcasted a couple days later on the morning news!

This was the one:

Anyways here are the news ones I took a few days ago outside my front yard

This one I use for my desktop on my G4 desktop

This one adorns the screen on my beloved PowerBook

:)

And of course I can't resist showing off the Kerry shirt everytime I post pics

Me. :hi:

1. Oh, the pain...
You are making my homesickness for Tucson flare up very badly.

3. Where you living now?
honestly I'm doing everything I can to get the hell out of Tucson. Sure I love the charms of the desert and all, but this city really is a mess and I just can't take the heat and the dryness anymore. I'm more of a forest dweller, but I try to make the most of where I live and take in what good points the place has.

I could see living here maybe if you don't have to work and you hate snow and rain and other than the occassional chance to step outside to see a sunset or swim you stay in your house knowing you never have to worry about rust or snow or any rain damage.

7. Central Virginia
up against the Blue Ridge. So I've got nothing to complain about, this is a beautiful part of the country too, and I'll admit I don't miss waking up every few days to see a story in the paper about the latest body found dumped in a wash or the latest drunk homeless guy falling asleep on the train tracks and getting sliced in two by a train. Tucson has its rough edges for sure.

I used to think the solution to southern & central Arizona's problems would be to pass two laws, one outlawing air conditioning and another outlawing irrigated lawns, so you'd reduce the population back down to the people who could live with swamp coolers and creosote bush. But you could say the same for the whole Sunbelt, I guess.

8. I tell ya we use a swamp cooler
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 05:13 PM by noahmijo
And they are terrible for this area. During the monsoon or wet season that we have pretty high humidity and it's about 112 or so the swamp cooler doesn't work for shit, we have to put fans all over the place just to keep from melting. I understand some of you Florida types can hack it, but no more for me, 18 years of this place has taken its toll on me.

Overall I just want to live someplace where the excitement isn't confined to the sonoran desert museum, and desert scenery, and there's trees and grass and I don't have to worry about skin cancer at the age of 22.

9. Me too - god I miss the sunsets, and the smells

of the desert after a summer rain... and approaching lightning
storms right after sunset.

2. Wow - Those Are Great
I really enjoyed a trip to the Grand Canyon and the Flagstaff area a few years back when I was living in California. Then last year when I moved to GA, we drove through the state again. Just a neat, neat place.

4. I was born and raised here
and I love my city. Summer nights in Tucson are the best. I am a desert rat through and through. Couldn't imagine living in a place that had no mountains, sunsets or summer monsoons.

I hope it rains today!

5. As a seeker of the "perfect sunset shot", I
commend you on some great shots. Of course, here in Ohio the atmospheric conditions are a little different. Thanks for sharing them.

10. Terrific shots, noahmijo!
The top one, where it looks like you caught some of the actual cloudburst, is absolutely top-notch.

Beautiful work -- thanks for posting! :toast:
