7. I had a college professor who had that played at his funeral.
He was a huge Stones fan...and developed cancer. He went fast, like three months; but took the time to make his wishes known.

for a couple of seconds then I remember how much I loved the song by guitarist Sonny Sharrock off of the Ask the Ages album titled Who Does She Hope To Be?(I'm not a she though) or maybe Feeling Groovy.Boy that's a tough question,if I get to be the DJ I think I would be spontaneous and pick whatever came to mind at the time.

Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 12:15 AM by LeighAnn
when he died unexpectedly Grandma and the Aunts ixnayed the whole thing and he got "Amazing Grace" just like everybody else.

Better have someone close to you ready to get an injunction lest the old-timers in your family try to subvert your wishes.

Cheers, and hope you don't die anytime soon (or at all, for that matter)!

19. The Promised Land by Terri Gibbs
I hear the grass is green as jade, in the promised land
And mossy trees give endless shade, in the promised land

And Jesus rules as lord of all, at God's right hand
goin there, goin there

Chorus:
I wanna go, where the milk and honey flows
Where Jesus is alive and he's building me a home

I wanna be, where my father waits for me
Longing for the day I finally stand, in the promised land

27. Frankie Beverly & Maze - "Joy & Pain"
Lyrics:

Remember when you first found love how you felt so good
Kind that last forever more so you thought it would
Suddenly the things you see got you hurt so bad
How come the things that make us happy make us sad
Well it seems to me that

Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain

Love can be bitter, love can be sweet
Sometimes devotion and sometimes deceit
The ones that you care for give you so much pain
Oh but it's alright, they're both one in the same

Don't it seem we go through life going up and down
Seems the things that turn you on turn you around
Always hurting each other, if it ain't one thing its another
But when the world is down on you, love's somewhere around
Well it seems to me that

Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain

Over and over you can be sure
There will be sorrow but you will endure
Where there's a flower there's the sun and the rain
Oh and it's wonderful - they're both one in the same

Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain

__________

My favorite part of it is in bold.

51. Hmmm, guess I'll be cutting a CD
Knowing my family, if I didn't have my funeral arrangements done, they will pick up the old hymnbook...
-

Figure there will only be music because not too much good could be said about me.

Bach - Sheep May Safely Graze
Bach - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring

Kansas - Dust in the Wind
Barber - Adagio for Strings
Mahler - Adagietto (4th movement) from 5th Symphony in c#

Some songs I personally composed...

Albinoni: Adagio in g minor (brass choir arrangement)
Holst: Venus, from "The Planets"

Exit: New Orleans style - post funeral music: When the Saints Go Marching In, etc.

afterward, a catered barbecue and jazz concert.

Death's Door

Lead singer: Martin L. Gore
Songwriter: Martin L. Gore
Publishing credit: ©1991 Grabbing Hands Music Ltd/PRS.

Well I'm knocking on Death's door
Will I take my rest, among the blessed
Mother are you waiting
Father are you pacing
I'm coming home

I'm knocking on Death's door
Will I take my rest, in my Sunday best
Mother are you anxious
Father are you gracious
I'm coming home

I've been away too long
For so long you've been strong
I've been away too long
I know that it was wrong
But I'm coming home

Well I'm knocking on Death's door
Will I take my rest, have I passed the test
Mother are you praying
Father I am saying
I'm coming home

62. Pink Floyd's Learning to Fly
Into the distance, a ribbon of black
stretched to the point of no turning back
a flight of fancy on a wind swept field
standing alone my sense reeled
a fatal attraction holding me fast, how
can I escape this irresistable grasp?
can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
ice is forming on the tips of my wings
unheeded warnings, I tought I thought of everything
no navigator to guide my way home
unladened, empty and turned to stone

a soul in tension that's learning to fly
condition grounded but determined to try
can't keep my eyes from the -circling- skies
tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

above the planet on a wing and a prayer
my grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air
across the clouds I see my shadow fly
out of the corner of my watering eye
a dream unthreatened by the morning light
gould blow this soul right through the roof of the night

there's no sensation to compare with this
suspended animation, a state of bliss
can't keep my mind from the circling sky
tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Because you hear "Here we go!" followed by "That's it!" and end with "That's all there is to it!" :-)

73. "I Can't Wait To Meet You" by Macy Gray
"I do my best to do right, got to get to the way up high
Oh, my Lord, I can't wait to meet You.
Love the life You've given but I'm looking forward to the day I die
Oh, my Lord, I can't wait to meet You".

It's from Power, Corruption & Lies. I have told everyone close to me of my wishes. We'll see if they play it.

78. I was going to say "The Stolen Child" by the Waterboys
which is adapted from a Yeats poem

"There he comes, a human child
To the water and the wild
With a faerie hand in hand
From a world more full of weeping than he can understand"

But I like "Highway to Hell" better.
