I remember it as though it were yesterday...

There I was, a wide-eyed college freshman...I was given a computer, broadband and free time. LOTS of free time. 5 years later here I am, 10 shy of 1000 posts. Ive made friends, donated money to a political campaign, raised awareness, and become familiar with such terms as "whistle-ass", "*", and (my favorite) "miserable failure." Although I want to :argh: sometimes, my doctor assures me that my blood pressure is just fine. I am wiser in the ways of politics and foreigners buy me beer everywhere I go ("No Gustav, of COURSE I didnt vote for that jackass...Wow, thanks for the free shot!"). I have also gained the firm conviction to follow in my fathers footsteps and run for city council.

Heres a big :toast: to all you DU'ers. Thanks for the memories!

I just wanted to know a little more about the person. There is so much buzz going on around him, he sounds like he might be in the running for president in 8-12 years. If we may be looking at the first african-american prez, I wanna know!

I'm looking forward to his keynote address. His getting that honor tells me the Dems see something very special in him.

17. Im almost finished working for the summer

here in the US, that is. :) I graduated from VA Tech in December '03 with a BS in Biology. I took a short break after college, slept and ate a lot, and refurbished my childhood room (it looks really cool now!) I have been doing greehousing and landscaping ever since. The greenhouse work is for Jefferson Greenhouse in Middleway, WV. Its only a 15 minute walk from my farm and the people are really cool. The other job is landscaping at Echo Ridge Nursery in Middletown, VA (side note: I also worked as a camp counselor in Middleberg, VA but I digress). Both the landscaping and greenhousing seasons are nearing a close so next week is my last week. On August 22nd Im going to China to teach English for a year, save some money, come home and start my own business.
