Heh...

What are your leanings, ann_coulter? Are you looking for outdoor stuff, bars, sports, what?

Might want to post this in the DU Ohio Forum, too. :D

4. Well, "Everybody's Records" is a great music shop...
.. and happens to be independently owned-and-operated by a dear friend of mine. Will you have a car? It's at 6106 Montgomery Road, near Pleasant Ridge, off I-71.

There are some great bars downtown in Over-The-Rhine, but I would suggest branching out a bit and checking out the fantastic local music at Allyn's Cafe on Tusculum in Mount Lookout, or The Pub at the Rookwood Pavillion in Norwood. Kevin Fox, one of our local treasures, plays his original set at Allyn's often!

Please feel free to PM me for maps, directions, schedules and contacts!! Enjoy your stay in Cincinnati!

2. you can go....
across the river to newport ky. go to newport on the levee. its right on the river and you can see downtown cincy. it has an aquarium, movie theaters, restraunts, shops etc. or you can drive north about 15 miles to kings island. or about a 10 minute ride to the cincinnati zoo. hope this helps!

8. With all due respect, I say "FEH!" to Newport-on-the-Levee.

If you're in Newport, check out Southgate House, but SKIP the Levee.

Give the wonderful local tavern and restaurant owners a chance!! ENOUGH with corporate-owned, homogenized entertainment mega-plexes!!!

There exists within Cincinnati an abundance of fantastic local pubs, which offer local food, local beers, and local, original entertainment. I've offered up a few of my personal faves within this thread.

Newport is a great option when everything else gets old to an old-time 'Natian, but I wouldn't recommend it to a Cincinnati newcomer. It's no way for a tourist to soak in the true flavor of Cincinnati, in my opinion.

9. just a little NKy Cincny rivalry ribbing
I like the whole area. I get your point about the corporate stuff. Jungle Jim's is my current favorite place.
