I forgot to pick up my perscription before the pharmacy closed
I was too busy DUing when I lost track of the time. I am suppose to take my high blood pressure pill, which I don't have, tonight. The pharmacy does not open until I after I am at work in the morning. I am not allowed to leave my workplace at any time during the day. What should I do? I take 50mg Atenenol. I am have been taking it for 2 years and my blood pressure is currently on the high side of normal. I also have anxiety and it seems to help with that a little bit too. It's a good thing that my husband doesn't know that I am sacraficing my health because I got caught up in this sight. He thinks that I DU too much as it is.

1. Can you call a clinic?
It will cost you but not as much as an ICU visit when your blood pressure skyrockets. Just a thought.

2. I live in a little town
All that is open medical wise is the hospital right now. There might be something open in the big town, a half hour away, but I am not sure where to even call. My blood pressure wasn't dangerously high in the short term before I went on medication (Nothing like over 200 like some people). I am not sure if not taking it, when my body has become used to it, has a rebound effect though. I wouldn't worry so much if I didn't have to go to work in the morning. My blood pressure rises with stress and work is stressful for me.
Now that I think about it, I'll call the nurse-on-call medical advice line and see how big of a deal this is. Maybe, I could get out of work for a short time to get it or have my boss pick it up for me of I am risking a medical emergency at work.

8. call the hospital.. they'll give you a couple pills
to hold you over until you can pick up your refill.

it's worth the hassle - you don't want to risk your health.

6. He's out helping a friend (who lives a distance away) with trees
Which is why he doesn't know about my predicament and wasn't there to remind me to get my medicine.
I just say that because he's threatened to block this website a couple times because I've neglected things other times because of losing track of time. It isn't that I'm addicted to the website. If it weren't DU, it would be something else. I tend to concentrate on one thing and zone everything else out. Maybe, I should set alarms. Sometimes loud noises are the only thing that distracts me away from what I am concentrating on.

5. I am not a doctor but I'll talk from personal experience.
I am currently on 100 mg of Toporol and 160 mg of Diovan for extreme high blood pressure (210/135 was a normal reading) and electrotachycardia (many times my heart rate has been in excess of 150). There have been days when I have forgotten to take them. While it's not a good thing, the drug does build up in your system and your rate will not shoot right up if you miss a dose. Just pick it up as soon as you can and take the missed dose.

7. Very good Mrs G!
Nikia if you have been taking this drug, a beta blocker, consistantly for 2 years, you could actually miss a couple of days of dosage and be OK, it has a "holdover" effect.

I would not do it all the time of course, but you'll be OK for a day, rest easy

10. Called the health plan nurse
She called a doctor to talk to me. As Mrs.Grumpy suggested, she said that I should be alright if I only skip one dose. I'll leave work tomarrow if I would have any symptoms though. Thanks for everyone's concern and advice.
