For what Kurt Vonnegut novels are you a whore for? |
|
And by that I mean, what are your favorite Kurt Vonnegut novels?
For me it would be:
Cat's Cradle
Slaughterhouse Five

I read it as a senior in high school, and thought it was really good.
Unfortunately, it's the only Vonnegut novel I've read.

3. I think that "Slaughterhouse Five" is one of the most important American |
|
novels ever written.
That it didn't win a Nobel says more about the Nobel than the novel.

9. The literature Nobel is awarded based on an author's total body of work... |
|
not for one novel. If it were for one novel, I'm sure Steinbeck, Hemingway and Faulkner all would have won earlier than they did (by the time they got the Nobel their best work was pretty much behind them).

It has always been my favorite.
And now, for some reason that I can't put my finger on, GW Shrub reminds me of the protaganist, Malachi Constant.
But everything by Kurt is awesome. Including his appearance in Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School. "And whoever wrote your paper on Vonnegut doesn't know the first thing about him." LOL

the universe gets tired of expanding, decides to contract for a year, time goes back 1 year, the universe gets all rested up and everyone gets to live that year all over again.

Happy Birthday Wanda June... Next would have to be Slaughterhouse 5. Mr. Vonnegut's last two essays on *co and the Iraq War have been masterpieces. The best stuff he's ever opined. http://www.inthesetimes.com/comments.php?id=38_0_4_0_C
