1. anyone from the south should know this! |

Where I come from, a chigger is a tiny tick-like bug that bites and makes you itch like crazy!

8. I guess we never had 'em |
|
in any place I've lived. I grew up on Long Island and have lived in coastal California for the last 20 years.
I know mosquitos, ticks, gnats and other assorted nasties. But not chiggers.

10. They're nasty little bastards, Dookus. |
|
They bite in en masse and leave marks like fleas that itch like hell.
Every midwesterner knows about chiggers. Count yourself among the lucky.

You have never encountered chiggers? Bwa-ha-ha-ha.
Story: I was camp nurse for disabled Girl Scouts. Our unpaid staff in this outdoors, Midwest camp was comprised of older teen-aged Girl Scouts from all over the country. Those from either coast thought that when they were warned of chiggers, it was like "snipe hunt", in other words, an urban legend or a prank on the unsuspecting.
Sadly for them, they should have paid attention to their elders.
Chiggers won't kill you, but they can make you wish you were dead (hyperbole, but not much).

What skit? I've never seen Crank Yankers. Did they steal from me, or did I steal from them?
