Ferrell says that Bush's people actually phoned SNL back in 2000 and tried to get a photo-op with him. When Ferrell refused, Bush himself called back and was very insistent. (Ferrell still said no, because he thought this would affect his ability to do a cutting impersonation of the guy.)

If he were still on the show, he said he'd be playing Bush in that "Mission Accomplished" flight suit and helmet -- he thought it really showed how foolish Bush is.
