Have you ever heard of the band Taking Back Sunday?

Here's a summary of my day yesterday.

The new Taking Back Sunday album came out. I go to the cool hip indie store nearby me at midnight because of their midnight sales thing. I don't find it. I ask the clerk if they have the new stuff in it yet. He says "oh, you want the new Taking Back Sunday right?" I said yes, he said they're sold out. ALREADY.

So the next morning I go off to Best Buy. I get a copy of their new album. I go to checkout. The clerk sees it, and says "oh, I just saw these guys two days ago in Minneapolis on the Warped Tour. They were awesome!" then goes on about how he's already heard the album and how great it was, how they beat the sophomore slump since second albums aren't too great (he was right though, this album rocks)

So then I'm off to work. We're allowed to listen to music at work in our cubicles. So I take out the new CD and am about to put it in. The girl next to me notices and says "oh, is that the new Taking Back Sunday?" I say yeah and she says "I just heard it today, it's great, even better than the first."

I had no clue they were so popular. So have you heard of them?

My 16-year-old daughter is really into them. I asked her today if she'd gone out to buy a copy on its day of release, and she said she'd had a copy for weeks; some friend's boyfriend's friend is in some other band on Victory (TBS' Chicago-based indie label) and he burned my kid a copy.
