4. Being left handed is a choice,
it's all about fashion. It is depraved and tearing at the moral fabric of society.

Some people claim that being left handed is the way God made them, or the Darwinists claim it is "genetic" and there is nothing they can do about it...

<Right that's enough of that>

first time Perot ran for president that all the candidates for pres. were left handed?? I thought it rather unusual.

8. I know some nuns who can cure left-handedness.
They tie your left hand behind your back forcing you to use your right. They have been as successful as the folks who "cure" homosexuality! :)

9. Fortunately I never
had to deal with anyone trying to change my leftiness. My mother was a lefty too which helped and my teachers never bothered me. I also have 2 grandchildren who joined the club. Why anyone thinks you can change someone who is left handed or homosexual is beyond me. I could no more be right handed than a homosexual could be heterosexual. Can't happen.

10. My Grandfather was forced to use his right hand
when he was learning to write. These days it just seems cruel, but at the time it was normal practice.

20. They tried to change me.
Actually I was right handed at one time. Then at the age of 4 (just when I was learning to write) I fell off the rocking horse while snitching Popsicles from the freezer and broke my right arm. After the cast was off my Mother and Grandmother sat me down and tried to make me write right handed again. I could do it, but only back wards (from right to left on the paper). They finally turned me back into a righty when my sister made me ride the boys bike (she always made me be the husband when we played house) and the front fender turned in and I fell off and broke my right arm again. She begged me not to tell mom, but as you could actually see the bones hanging, I had no choice. It was back in the days when girls only wore dresses, so my mother gave me a bath and put a dress on me and took me to the local hospital. I was eight years old and they put me in this room with all these artificial limbs, I was scared shitless. The Dr. had told them that they would have to put me to sleep to set it and I was convinced I was going to end up with one of those metal hooks. Well I woke up with a plaster cast so my fears were unfounded. I did switch back to my left hand and I've been a lefty every since. My one and only child is left handed too and I sometimes wonder if him being left handed is something I subconsciously trained him to be?

13. I did not know that? So is right handed also?
Is it something to do with the right hand of God? I think something like this has been in every society. My mother, only sister, and a daughter were left handed. Buying things were pesty for them.

19. That's nice, but
lefty's are also more likely to be crazy and die in horrific accidents. Of course they are also more likely to be geniuses, so I guess there is a trade off.

because everything is set up for rightys. You are correct though.. seems I've been accident prone all my life. Nothing horrendous, just many many small injuries over the course of my life.

27. My wife says I'm always going the opposite of the expected direction...
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 11:37 AM by Richardo
When people are coming down the street, or when I have to get out of the way of something, or when I try to open the door for her, etc.

That probably contributes to the high death/accident rate. ("I DID see that oncoming car, but swerved left instead of right, St. Peter" :eyes: )

22. You lefties are satan's spawn!
Learn to use your right hand like all of God's true children!

Just kidding-my grandpa was born in Austria and first went to a school taught by insane nuns. He was left-handed, so they tied his left hand behind his back until he wrote with his right hand. He is ambidextrous to this day (he's 91).

29. Lefty, but versatile
I write and eat with my left hand, but I use a scissors, play the violin (when I played the violin), and knit (when I used to knit) right-handed. A scissors simply doesn't work if you try to use it with your left hand, because the blades are on the wrong side.

Lefties are supposed to be good at music, math, and languages, and to have a higher likelihood of allergies, learning disabilities, and speech defects. Music--check. Languages--check. Allergies--check. Learning disabilities--slight tendency to reverse letters, inability to remember card games or dance steps, inability to wrap packages or fold things correctly. Speech defects--slight stammer. Math--only with great difficulty.

I feel cheated--I've got all the lefty traits except mathematical ability! :grr:
