Why all the Ann Coulter threads? |
|
Regardless of what she writes and says and does, doesn't obsessing about her like this give her an awful lot of power you don't really want her to have?

1. I'm heartened that USA Today fired her ass this week. |
|
Although, why they even hired her in the first place is beyond me.
I agree with you, btw. She should be marginalized...not given more mention.

ignore her and she will go away.
It is good to see that the DNC will allow all kinds of people in the door, especially crack whores like her.

5. To me Ann is clearly all about calling Attention to herself |
|
She will say whatever it takes to call attention to herself.
So I agree - she is quite frankly marginal and irrelevant. Sorry, no attention for Ann from me, other than to point this out.

...who the object of these negative posts is--"good" or "bad". By saying such damaging things ("What disease is Ann Coulter?"), I ultimately hurt me.
Which is not to say that there is no place here for anger or legitimate criticism, appropriately put. I just don't think the sort of things people say here about Ann Coulter and her ilk are appropriate.
Which is also not to say I am never guilty of the kind of gossip and criticism I decry in this thread. I'm a very fallible human being, after all. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding.

10. I see your point. Not sure what others will say about this but... |
|
IMO, she's so far out there that I can't even get worked up over her. Because, I mean, where do you even start? It's like trying to debate the Lyndon LaRouche zombies I meet handing out flyers up by Union Square. Life's too fucking short, innit?
That's just my take. Others will no doubt have valid arguments to the contrary.

12. Her column that caused USA Today to get rid of her is a perfect example. |
|
It's just...mindless, purile gibberish. Really, this woman needs to be marginalized. It's not entertaining, it's not much of anything.

15. I agree. It was stunningly bad. I read it thinking that... |
|
...it was killed because it was pointless and inept journalism. Shit, I went to college with her and I knew then exactly the kinda person she was. Tediously limited, for starters. Her transmogrification into a national voice always struck me as laughably absurd. But as they say, "That's showbiz."

17. We're approaching the Coulter situation all wrong |
|
We could use this nutcase to our advantage by portraying her as the voice and mind of the entire Republican party. Frankly, the more publicity she gets and the more people hear her rantings, the better it is for us.
