Freaky Feeding Frenzy
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 01:32 AM by bigskydem

Hows that - I'll take the partisan call off.

I thinks its freaky to camp out for donuts - just me. :silly:

1. Sure its kinda funny
but aren't you bashing the lower and middle class America we say we stand up for? I mean, these are the kind of comments that get us the "Liberal eliteist" tag. Its like in the late 60s when the Democratic Party blasted "Joe Sixpack" for being ignorant of the Vietnam War and spitting on poor drafted troops returning from the war.

4. since when is Krispy fuckin' Kreme the standard bearer of Americana?
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 01:25 AM by thebigidea
Since when does some corporate swill symbolize heartland joe sixpack values?

Yes, making fun of people camping out at a donut shop is EXACTLY like spitting on troops.

Now, could you point out when the Democratic Party spat on the troops? How about a single incident. That should make it easier for you.

Didn't George McGovern at one point hocked up some phlegm on a returning amputee?

6. I'd say your post is bashing the lower and middle class.
We're not a bunch of morons who camp out waiting for a Krispy Kreme, and quite frankly given the picture, these people don't need any more donuts.

Not the middle class or lower class.

Interesting that you get them confused, though.

It just seemed obsurd to me.

32. "joke"?? "make fun"??
Methinks there's at least a bit of "eye of the beholder" in such an observation of my post. I see very little that's funny about Type-II Diabetes ... a disease that leads to blindness, kidney failure, neuropathy, and death.

7. I must join the "this-is-not-right" crowd.
I don't like donuts. But I think that there's nothing wrong in this. We mustn't condescend the masses of people, wherever they are, Wyoming or New York City.

9. Hey, we just got a krispy kreme
I certainly didn't camp out, but I was glad to get a stupid doughnut and try to figure out what all the fuss is about. I still don't know, I like the Safeway doughnuts better.

But I think it's rude to make such a blanket statement about a group of people who would take the shirt off their backs to help you if you needed it.

14. why are you calling them freepers?
the term "freepers" should only be used for the slimy denizens of Freeperville.

These people could be anybody.

By the way, Krispy Kreme donuts are pretty good. They're the only donuts I'll ever eat. (a guilty pleasure now and then when we buy 'em for the kids for a treat)

23. "talking so bad"???
I know a few other words other than freaky. Are you seriously calling Freaky "so bad" of a thing to say?

I live a few miles from this place, drove by it this morning, saw the picture in the paper and thought rather amusing. I am not from here, but I like it. I have to put up with getting the finger for my Kerry sticker, Republican endorsements by the Billings Gazette, and 5 Clear Channel radio stations dominating the airwaves.

I was a teacher for a while, but got called in front of the School board when I ran a play called God and Poker - parents and principal "put me in my place".

Montanans care about my politics especially when its not theirs.

25. What a piece of work
Now you lie about your original post??? My my.

And yes, people do have control over their local schools. And are we not the party that wants to keep religious ideologies out of schools? What gives you the right to present a play in public school that deals with religion in any way? If you weren't fired, you should count yourself lucky. And, you're the kind of person that is the exact reason Montana doesn't vote Democratic anymore.

Somehow that turned into the original poster attacking lower and middle class people. At least according to you.

30. Krispy Kreme mania is really bizarre....
People line up and camp out for the first doughnuts off the line. How ridiculous and pointless. These people need to find better things to do with their time. Are their lives really that hollow that they need to expend this much time and energy in quest of deep-fried fat covered in sugar?

Of course it is kinda sad that they're unaware that Krispy Krap "jumped the shark" about 3 years ago...

my principles, I buy from local businesses like Sunny Donut and Happy Donut. It's their cheerful service and "get-up-at-3am-to-make-great-doughnuts" work attitude that gets my dollar.
