1. Send Me A Lock Of Your Hair...
or a tee-shirt you've worn. (Yes, I'm jealous.)

12. You said you were anywhere about 3 feet from Hoffa
and there is no proof he's buried under Giant Stadium. Maybe he's buried under the Fleet Center

14. The Fleet center was built in 1996
If Hofa is here, he was awful smelly when they dumped him in the hole.

6. Couple of questions for you, Will
Are you encountering some people who either know you through Truthout or from your book with Ritter?

And, I don't know whether you can answer this, but is Michael Dukakis there? While I understand the sensitivity re: having him speak, it does seem really sad if he doesn't feel comfortable to go to the convention of his party in his own state... Just curious....

Finally, we'll have the disinfection chamber set up, if you get too close to the Faux cabal, especially O'Liely, Hannity, Hume....

Yes: Joe Wilson, Garofolo, Medea Benjamin and Chris Heinz. My blog entry on the Heinz thing:

--

A moment of personal and professional satisfaction.

Around 9pm, truthout editor and cameraman extraordinare Scott Galindez and I were scouring the 5th floor rotunda of the convention hall for people to interview. We saw Jesse Jackson, Spike Lee, Steve Buscemi and several other people we wanted to talk to. But each of them was traveling at high speed within their own personal mob, and we couldn't penetrate the perimeter.

Dispirited, we started looking for a down escalator, when suddenly Chris Heinz appeared before us. Heinz and I did some miles together in New Hampshire when I was up there to interview his step-dad, John Kerry, so he recognized me.

I asked him if he had a minute to talk, and his assistant said no way, they had to keep going.

"No," said Heinz to his guy. "We stop for truthout."

The ensuing interview was pure bubblegum, but about 20 other press guys who tried and failed to get Heinz on camera clustered around Galindez to see who it was that got the man they had been hunting.

Some people have it, fellas. Some people don't.

Thanks for stopping, Chris.

I have no idea. Isn't he teaching law in Hawaii now?

That's why God invented beer. Luckily, I haven't seen one Fox person. They stay up in their little hermetically sealed booth on the fifth floor rotunda. :)

17. Dukakis was introduced and applauded at the convention tonight,

right after McGovern and Mondale (in chronological order of their candidacies.

Kitty was with Michael and they both looked good, I thought, though I was on the other side of the room at the time (snarling to myself about how a decent man was trashed, his wife's personal problems exposed, etc., all to get Poppy Bush in office.)

20. Thanks DemBones DemBones! Good to hear...
Perhaps in a few more years there won't be that lingering awkwardness with respect to Dukakis... This year was definitely Carter's turn to regain the totality of respect he so richly deserves.

19. Michael Dukakis is there
He was introduced from the MA delegation earlier in the evening (as was Fritz Mondale from the MN delegation), but no speaking role.

but their prep room is next to the press bullpen, so I am always jostling past Wolf-s hairdo when I go off to work the crowd.

It's interesting. I saw him coming out of that interview. He looked annoyed.
