YET MORE CONVENTION PICS! |
|
Hope you guys aren't getting sick of these yet. As usual, apologies to the dial-uppers for the large pics.
First, a few random shots we grabbed while out and about...
James Carville ready to bust some heads.
EarlG meets Dennis Kucinich. And isn't that the farmer from Babe in the background? How odd.
+++
Now, on to the main event...
John Mellencamp warmed up the crowd...
...and then, as if by magic, Dennis Kucinich appeared. I'm starting to think he's following me around.
And hey, isn't that the farmer from Babe? Bizarre :)
But John Edwards was obviously the star of the show tonight...
I love this picture that Nalinee took. While everyone watches the speeches, the CNN anchors sit with their backs to the stage talking shit.
The Black Eyed Peas rounded off the evening nicely.
On to the after-party at Avalon Nightclub - they were hosting a party for the New York Democrats. I'm sure you're all getting used to seeing youngred half in the bag so I won't dwell on this one :)
Then it was on to the fancy-pants Hollywood liberal elitists. Here's Nalinee enjoying Steve Buscemi's speech...
...closely followed by Alec Baldwin.
Brian McKnight sang the national anthem at the Convention Wednesday, and then provided the entertainment at Avalon. As you can tell, I'm a big fan :evilgrin:
+++
Finally, if anyone IS a big Brian McKnight fan, here are some pics Nalinee took during the show. As you can see, she's a much, much better photographer than I am.
Anyway, I'm going to bed now to get four hours sleep. youngred may well be online shortly to claim that that was only his second beer. I wouldn't believe it if I were you :)

There's a man just screaming for a Bond film to be made around his evil character face.
Great pix, Mr. G!

Or was he Jewish? It was something Archie had a tough time adjusting to.
But anyway, James Cromwell was also on a kid's show about math--the did a take-off on Dragnet called Mathnet, where they used math to solve crimes. That was cool! (I was in my 20s when I watched that show.)

I assumed he was a friend of Dennis Kucinich's because we spotted him sitting at the Convention (we were way up in the nosebleeds by the way) and when DK appeared they greeted one another. It was just weird because those pictures (the one of me and DK and then the ones of DK inside the hall) were taken on different days, and I didn't notice James Cromwell was in the first one until I put it into this thread.

That movie has one of my all time favorite exchanges (Truman Capote to Peter Sellers' 'Charlie Chan' and his broken english:
Sidney Wang: What meaning of this, Mr. Twain? Lionel Twain: I will tell you, Mr. Wang, if YOU can tell me why a man who possesses one of the most brilliant minds of this century can't say his prepositions or articles. "THE," Mr. Wang. "What is THE meaning of this?"
...and later:
Sidney Wang: "Cow on wall has point." Lionel Twain: "THE! THE! Say your god-damn articles!"

Great coverage. Especially liked the shot of CNN struggling to give our friends on the right (Frights) equal time before, during and after every speech. As I looked at your shot of the preening CNN abusers surrounded by a sea of those they have abused over the past 12 years, I had an exhiliarating, Suddenly, Last Summer moment -- "GO! GO! GO!" I shrieked, pumping my fist into the air -- and in that moment I knew how Stinky W. felt when he went on TV to tell the Muslim world that "Moab is on the way..."
Don't git no better'n 'nis.
