Another self-aggrandizing bike photo....
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 12:29 PM by BiggJawn
This one, I've ridden quite a bit this year. 34-tooth Shimano "Megarange" rear sprocket for hills, Biopace front sprockets, 105 crank and shifters (SIS, cool!) Extended stem and seatpost because the frame is a little small, SPD pedals, and "hand-crafted" 12V lighting system with LED's to the rear and an 11W to the front and a heavy-as-Hell 12V 7AH battery (the thing near the cranks) to run it all...

1. Ever try one of those sliding seat mounts
to buy some room?

They fit on the seat post and give you about 3 cm of slide back. I'm 6'3" and it turned my 60cm frame into a 63 (a 140 mm stem helps too).

2. I'm kind of short up top...
Never have an issue with reach, except on my Raliegh, which stretches me out a bit, just leg length and stem height. I'm not as flexible (and I have a bigger gut) as I was when I was 17...

6. We always used balloons...
didn't last as long as cards, but they had a deeper "Thlub" sound to them...

5. where's the suspension?
and what's the deal with those skinny tires? Nice ride, though. Damn that headlamp is HUGE. I wish I could dim my TrailRat. Sometimes it's little too bright when I'm riding the asphalt around the lake. Is that a Jandd pack you have on the back there?

7. Suspension?
Skinny tyres? they're 27X1-1/8....:-)

The headlight is a 11W "landscape floodlight" from our friends at Malibu (the sidewalk light people) It's adequate at speeds up to 19 MPH.
The pack is a Bell pack from "The Store which Must Not be Named". Contains tube, patch kit, tyre levers, Clif Bar and Glucose tabs.

cthulhu-mart? My "survival kit": spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, spoke wrench, various allen keys, snakebite kit, and sometimes a uhhhhhh pipe, for those descents!! Sure, it's a lot of crap to carry, but my RockHopper FSR is a tank anyway.
