Once again we managed to swag floor passes. So here we are on the floor.

so much...These pics have been wonderful. I suppose in a strange sense I feel like I'm living vicariously through them :P

But in all seriousness, this week has been amazing. The speeches have been terrific and from what these pics and the uninterrupted coverage on C Span showed, it looked like a blast.

BTW, were you all able to stick around for that amazing fireworks display? I hate to say it, but only Fox news showed it. It had John Williams conducting and it was a great display.

21. I saw you two on C-span last night...

...during the Pelosi speech, there in a crowd shot...I rewound the TiVo, yep, sure enough, EarlG and Nalinee.

23. It was great

running into EarlG, Nalinee right there in front of Wolf Blitzer! Also, after they moved on to other STARS (man, that Nalinee sure attracts the Talent doesn't she?) my wife and I stayed behind to hassle Wolfie - the biscuit floater :)

I got between my wife with the video camera and Wolf and made the hand shape of a wolf that you make when you are creating a shadow animal on a wall -- Wolf was getting all shifty in the chair, ready for the little light to come on their camera that animates him, when he glanced over at what I was doing, and he started smirking and then making faces, the kind you make when you don't want to LAUGH OUT LOUD.. and he keep screwing up his face for about a full minute into the interview!

we've got it on film so I'm going to try to get it crunched down and see if you can see his expressions.. came close to getting thrown out on that one..

also, the night before we showed up at the Air America booth and Janeane Garofalo was on, doing her show and she said, "Hi, Take Back the Media!" (came and hugged us and talked during the commercial) and when she went back to the microphone she started off saying, "Take Back the Media here!" INSTEAD of "This is Air America!" grabbed her face and slid into the chair like a little imp, having screwed up :)

We didn't notice she'd done that til we looked at our footage later, gonna see if we can crunch that one down into a quicktime as well, it's really cute..

Other people we met and didn't photo were Helen Thomas (I told her we didn't appreciate her being treated the way she was by the Bush administration) I actually got to TOUCH HER! What a sweetie.. told her that someone should build a freaking SHRINE to her with a statue as the last living TRUE journalist.. maybe if Kerry wins she'll get her seat in front back again..

Harry Shearer, Al Franken, Randi Roades, can't name them all, they were coming fast and furious..

but I AM pissed about the axcess for independent Media and I'm going to do a long write up about what a clusterfuck having this convention in THIS center was.. waaaay too small..too many cops, caged protesters, etc..

BUT, once again, it was SO FUN meeting with the DU admins, a total blast.. let's do it again - ready to attend any DU party that comes around.. may have to be in Hawaii tho, we'll be heading home in a month or so.. :)

where Alec Baldwin, Obama and whats-his-name, the Daredevil guy came back to our place and we all played spin-the-bottle. Skinner was really mad about that and told us we couldn't post the pics.

Lovely seeing all of you and loads of new folks (for those who are about to alert me, I salute you but also this is Alex so I really am Curse10's bitch) - in case anyone was wondering, when Johnny Blitz passes out on the floor next to you while you're playing chess he totally snores - YoungRed would like everyone to know that he's not actually drunk 100% of the time. He just looks that way. No, I'm just kidding, he's drunk 100% of the time. We all were.

The DU gathering was right up there with the Drunk Irish Cop gathering. A contender for the best ever. (Yes, I'm now doing my standard two-posts-after-each-gathering, after which I'll forget my password and you won't hear from me until the next gathering.)

Curse10 and I are never, ever drinking again. Or at least we're gonna stay away from the bourbon at 3:30.

The 4 who stayed with us were all lovely houseguests - Luke too, who was there half the time anyway so he counts even though he's a filthy, baby-eating Yankees fan - and the Democratic Party has just issued a press release saying they saved ten million dollars on the DNC because we kept throwing after-hours parties.

That cool old guy has been involved in democratic politics for years. He lives in a town near / in Orlando, FL. They interviewed him on the local news about a week ago. I think he said he's been involved since about 1938. He rules.
