Why don't my smilies dance?
For some reason, my smilies are no longer animated. I noticed it earlier this week and thought maybe it had to do with the reduced services during the convention traffic but they're still not dancing. What good is a donkey that doesn't kick? :kick:

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? Animated avatars and signatures (such as underpants) still work. Thanks!

10. Never mind? Did they start bouncing again?
Mine look just as you described! They do not AT ALL convey the excitement they are supposed to when used properly! :D

4. the animation is handled by your browser
Try closing your browser and starting it again.

5. Which browser are you using?
There is usually an option about allowing animated GIFS (which are what the smileys are), somewhere deep in the options/tools menus.

8. I'm using IE 6
Good suggestion. However, I checked the advanced options and everything that seemed to be related to animation and/or video has been checked. :(

Come to think of it, though, I also can't vote at CNN for some reason. I'm thinking it might have to do with my firewall program, although I've allowed cookies to this site and CNN every way that I know how! I downloaded that Mozilla Foxfire browser to vote at CNN. I had to delete it but maybe I should give it another try.

Thanks!

just switched to mozilla firefox. a much better browser imho. IE is full of built in security holes so M$ can control you, oops, i mean your machine!!!!

13. Just installed it and I'm dancin' again! Thanks! :)
I tried it before but the only problem is that I'm a chronic online shopper and I have the Google toolbar that autofills my credit card info (password protected.) I couldn't figure out how to attach the Google toolbar to Firefox and I also couldn't figure out how to "undefault" IE as my default browser. I wimped out and gave up but I'll give it another try.

15. Firefox rips
Check out the Tools/Extensions menu item and go to Get more extensions to find some cool stuff. I recommend All-in-one Gestures, Add Bookmark Here and Copy URL+, the last of which is very, very useful for posting articles at DU.

14. They're dancin' again, thanks!
But it was a Firefox browser that did the trick -- I'm afraid my love wasn't enough! :bounce:
