Any iPod users out there? |
|
I have a question. I just bought a new iPod, 20GB model. I run Windows XP Home on my PC. I have some music files loaded into iTunes (about 250MB worth).
How long should it take to transfer those files? It's been working quite a while with the "Do not disconnect" message. Just wondering if everything is working like it's supposed to.

goes quicker if you use it. I reinstalled my OS so I have to reinstall my iPod, got the key speeches from the convention on it. All kinds of good stuff.

i have a mac so i don't the difference in time. It will tell you when it's done, after you hit eject on the screen your ipod should show a check mark.

4. It should say on the top of the iTunes window... |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 08:16 PM by CanuckAmok
"Update completed" or something like that. The "do not disconnect" icon will stay on until you 'eject' the iPod using the button on the lower right, or via the menu bar at the top.
It too ke some wangling to figure it all out... Mac instructions assume you have a Masters from MIT.
on edit: by the way, if you want to load more than 10 Megs at one time, you'll find your iPod will run out of battery life before the uploads are complete. You will need to get the USB2/iDock/AC adapter splitter cable to keep your iPod running/charging while it's plugged int your USB2 or 4-pin FireWire port.

250mb? well, if you could, just imagine the time it would take to transfer 250mb from one folder to another. and now imagine doing it inside a third party program. my guess is 2-3 minutes? maybe longer depending on what else you're running...

20. Drag and drop your music into your "LIBRARY"... |
|
then, under file, click on "update files on (GOPisEvil's) iPod
When it's done, it will say "iPod update complete" in the big oval window at the top of iTunes.
when it's done, click on "eject (GOPisEvil's) iPod" under 'controls', and the files should be on your iPod.

|
And, why do they make the cases so that you can't use the click wheel while it's inside? That's inconvenient. x(
I plan on using it for entertainment while I mow the lawn tomorrow.

27. I thought about the mini, but... |
|
...the 15GB one was only $50 more...and then the 20GB one wasn't THAT much more...hehehe...so I ended up with the 20. The case can be clipped and it will protect it, since I'm hard on equipment.
