My kitty died tonight...

Tari (Indonesian for "dancer") of Dayjavous, who was our devoted companion for nineteen years.

Even with our remaining three cats, the house seems empty tonight...

8. I am so very sorry! What a lovely cat!
I lost my kitty in February and am still missing her terribly, so I share your pain. Nineteen years is impressive, but I know that this doesn't dull the hurt. My beloved cocker spaniel, Barney, my dog of a lifetime, was 18, which I was told was very old for his breed, but this hardly mattered. They leave such a big hole in your life when they leave you. Please know that you will be in my thoughts.

9. My husband gave me Scooter
on our first wedding anniversay and he died when my first born was 16. Several times in the next six months I would feel him jump on the bed and lay down next to me. I swear to god he was there, but when I got up, there was nothing there. My mom died the end of December 2003. For all my life she beat me, put me down, the last thing she said to me was "gee, you're getting fat". I cried harder over Scooter than I did over her.

I'm sorry for you loss, but I'm happy you had such a loyal friend who loved you till today and will continue to love you tomorrow. The loyalty of a pet can only leave you a better person. You were a very fortunate person to have experienced this.

13. Wow. You're mother sounds so much like mine
I lost my cat in February and know what you experienced. I keep thinking I see her out of the corner of my eye and still walk softly in here so I won't spook her. My condolences on the loss of both your cat and your mom.

It's hard to take when they aren't around anymore. At least you had nineteen years of happiness with your kitty. My deep condolences. :(

12. I'm very sorry.
My last dear kitty lived to be 20. She's been gone for almost 10 years and I still miss her all the time.

Play with your other cats. They'll be missing her too and wondering where she went. You can help each other with lots of hugs and kitty kisses.

17. I was given the name of this website when I lost my Sheena
I chose to confine my grief to DU and friends, but this young girl who works in my vet's office, who also lost her beloved cat, has found comfort here, so I am passing it on to you. My thoughts are with you.;(

Your kitty had a long and happy life with you, and I'm sure Tari enriched your life immeasurably. I know how very hard it is to have Tari leave you. Give your other cats lots of love (as I'm sure you already are) and try to remember happy memories of Tari instead of dwelling on the circumstances of Tari's death (which is easy to do, but very upsetting). Take care.

EDIT: Tari was a beautiful cat!!

It's amazing; they don't take up much space until they are gone, and then all of their "spaces" in your home and your heart are empty.

I lost a cat a month ago. I'm still missing him.

what a gorgeous furfriend! If there is a heaven, we'll all be together with our furchildren in the end. Meanwhile, there are many heavenly mice to hunt and balls of yarn to play with, while they wait for us. :grouphug:

26. So very sorry. She was a true beauty
I understand what you are going through. I lost two kitties last year; my beloved Peewee who was only 15 (cardiomyopathy) and Jasper, an 18 year old kitty that came with the house when I bought it seven years ago. I had raised Peewee since he was born (his mom, who belonged to a college buddy of mine, rejected him because he was a runt. He survived because many college students devoted hours to feeding him KMR with an eyedropper. He was such a love)! Losing him was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced.

What helped me most-and my remaining cat- was bringing two new kittens into the house (their pics are on the "kittens for Kerry" thread). I'll never forget my Peewee, but having new life around is a reminder that things continue, that we all have our time. Tari was so fortunate to have you in her long life; you are obviously and excellent "parent" for your cats. May you meet again on the Rainbow bridge.
