4. As somebody who has lived to answer that question

I will tell you that I am alive today because I decided not to pull a John Wayne and jump in the line of fire of an idiot shooting an automatic weapon into a schoolyard. I was on my hands and knees, nuclear drill style, kissing my ass goodbye. My cowardice saved my ass. I doubt a run into the line of fire and getting killed would have saved any of our students either.

5. You know, I had second thoughts after I voted

'die on your feet', because I got to thinking, gee, when you're kneeling, you can stand up, but when you're dead, you can't.
