I just hope the games are close and entertaining. (And it looks like they will be.)

There's no 'there' in the whole Olympic shebang. *'s policies have remade US into the Soviet bad ass that everyone wants to kick.
Plus, all the GE NBC channels will shove their "All's right with the world and sports" BS while secretly hoping they'll have live coverage of a terrorist atrocity which they will describe as the work of a few bad apples. All will still be right with the world as long as the US gets the most gold.
For what it's worth this year, it might as well be fool's gold.

3. They've only been together a week so far |

The rest of Europe has made outstanding strides in basketball and the US olympic team has to come to grips with this. Because of the Bush Crime Family and the invasion of Iraq every country in the world views our Olympic team in the same light as the old USSR squads or Nazi Germany's squads.

4. We have the talent to win |
|
Despite the big names withdrawing from competition, we still have the best athletes out there. The problem, I believe, is that other countries have teams that practice year round. I wonder if it would be better for the U.S. to field a lesser talented but more cohesive group for international competition.

but I think it will be close. I like the fact that the games are close and that the rest of the world is catching up to us. It makes for interesting games.

8. I hope they get beat . . . |
|
assembling a bunch of millionaire ballplayers and calling it an Olympic team violates the spirit of the games, imo . . . yeah, I know others do it too, but that doesn't make it right . . . and others don't have the vast number of NBA players to choose from that the US does . . . I'd rather see a bunch of college athletes put their all into competing, even if they don't come away with a medal . . . as for these guys, I'd just love to see them bomb . . .
