Mottled sunshine, Anthony Adverse in Africa and |
|
'Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.' Ever since I met
Jitterbugperfume here on DU I have been reading
Tom Robbins now and then. Today I am outside
sitting in the cool air and bright sunshine reading
'Cowgirls'. The bright sunshine reflecting from the
pages of my book causes me to move into a shaded
area. The sun filtering through the leaves of the shading tree
casts mottled light and shadow across the pages of my book.
Staring off into the distance I reflect on another mottled time.
I am a child reading 'Anthony Adverse in Africa' by the
light of a kerosene lamp. In the book Anthony is laying with a beautiful
African woman, the moonlight is filtering through the
window casting mottled light on the naked body of the beautiful
young woman.
Heavy reading for a ten year old. Long time ago.
Think I will go sit out there a while longer.
