Milwaukeean has a Harley question... |
|
So we have like 500,000 of these things roaring around my hometown this weekend. Most have only one rider -- overwhelmingly male, but a few female. Many have two riders, a male and a female.
Out of thousands of bikes I've seen with two riders this weekend, every single one has the woman riding in the back seat. Every single one. Not one exception.
What's up with that?? Are you automatically shunned if you're a man and you're caught riding in the back seat, despite all the talk about how it's a wonderful brotherhood where everybody's great friends?? Are women relegated to second class citizenhood?

1. I'm in the MKE area, too... |
|
And I've noticed myself.
Most of the bikers I know are good, enlightened people.
Then again, I've also heard some people refer to the back as the "bitch seat."
Your mileage may vary, I guess...

for sure. That's why smart biker women get their own bikes!! Having a guy be the back seat driver in a car is bad enough. On a bike would be a nightmare. I once had a boyfriend who really wanted to be a passenger on my bike - but he was pretty nontraditional in his approach to dealing with me.
ONCE, I saw a couple come out of a supermarket, with a bag of groceries. They walked over to a Harley. She started it up, and got on - he sat in the back, holding the groceries. If only I'd had a camera. It was awesome.

4. It is rare, and it is hard to flash other bikers when you are |

driving, which is a common occurance.
Other than that niceity of biker life, I can't think of a reason, and I am not sure I have EVER seen female operator with a male passenger.
