KadeCarrion and I just enjoyed a swim under Mars and the stars. You can't beat relaxing swimming at night.
Gotta enjoy the pool before the Labor Day weekend is done. Anyone else up for a swim??

1. I may have to give that idea a go next Thursday |
|
when my wife and I are both off. Hopefully there won't be too many other people at the pool, and also hopefully the security patrols will be amenable to letting us stay in the pool after the official closing time. Rumor has it that if you're a decent tenant they might be willing to not chain the gates shut until a bit later.
We'll see.... :)

I'm kind of hesitant about night swimming in the gulf. Scared of them monsters.

Nothing more serious than dead bugs!
A moth bit it aiming for the light under the surface. Ouch.

6. Swam in Canadian waters... |
|
HI CC, Earlier this month, I swam in two lakes in Desolation Sound in B.C. and also in salt water. Later ran into a guy in Sidney who said he emerged covered with leeches after swimming in one of the fresh water lakes I had been swimming in....ACCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK
One was right across his belly button, he said. He freaked.
So would I...
Mars is incredible now, isn't it?? I watched the stars and planets and the moon all month off the boat in B.C....sure hate to be back home in Seattle, back to work day after tomorrow....back to George W. Bush country....*sigh* Now he says that federal employees must not get raises because it would threaten "national security."
Enjoy Flagstaff! P.S. I played lots of Joni Mitchell CDs on the boat...

Thanks for the note! I had forgotten you went to NAU! And yes, Babbitt's is a fixture downtown. :-)
Glad you enjoyed Canada. I would have stayed, lol. I know a few DUers live up in B.C, like Lisa. I think she is in Victoria too, one of my favorite places.
The observatory at NAU is having nightly viewings, excpet Sundays, and so is Lowell. We want to go, but anytime we have a free night, it is either Sunday or cloudy, being monsoon season. We will make it soon.
Speaking of bloodsucking leeches, you had to mention Bush, lol. ;-)
Thanks for keeping in touch, and stick around - the Lounge needs more Mariner fans. :D

8. "These things, they go away, replaced by everyday." |
|
16 or 17 at the Jersey Shore... Some of the best times of my youth. this song takes me back there...
REM Automatic for the People (1992) Nightswimming
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night. The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago, turned around backwards so the windshield shows. Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse. Still, it's so much clearer. I forgot my shirt at the water's edge. The moon is low tonight.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night. I'm not sure all these people understand. It's not like years ago, The fear of getting caught, of recklessness and water. They cannot see me naked. These things, they go away, replaced by everyday.
Nightswimming, remembering that night. September's coming soon. I'm pining for the moon. And what if there were two Side by side in orbit Around the fairest sun? That bright, tight forever drum could not describe nightswimming.
You, I thought I knew you. You I cannot judge. You, I thought you knew me, this one laughing quietly underneath my breath. Nightswimming.
The photograph reflects, every streetlight a reminder. Nightswimming deserves a quiet night, deserves a quiet night.

11. US Navy Swim School Night Swims |
|
Key West Florida. About two 'surprise' night swims a week,
maybe more it was a long time ago. Some underwater
compass swims. Some surface swims a mile or two.
You get used to it. What you cannot see does not frighten you.
Very much.
