Most of them came from the Delta, of course. Howlin Wolf was from West Point or thereabouts, which is the eastern side of the state. A partial list of Blue artists from Mississippi: Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, R.L. Burnside, Jr. Kimbrough, Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James...
Anyone else like to add to the list.
Without these Blues musicians, there would have never been Rock n Roll. And when you think about Mississippi, there is a whole 'nother heritage. Not just the heritage of race and rebels, but the heritage of the Blues.
That's enough preaching for now.

on the near northside of chicago in the late 60`s. he started about 10 and played till about 3. never got off his chair..
