Post your mole control stories here!
We have moles. We want them gone. We are researching mole control methods. Our neighbors have told us all kinds of crazy things (gassing them with car exhaust, mothballs, milky spore, etc.). Anyone have mole control stories (successful or unsuccessful) to share that would help us choose a strategy?

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

1. Natural remedies
are at hand by a local US company called Dr. T's Natural Remedies. I've not tried their mole remedies, but their Cobweb Eliminator works great! Check them out a repell.com A nice alternative to poisons.

9. I tried chewing gum..
a few years ago and it did seem to work. However, this year my yard is again infested with them. Again I tried the chewing gum method, however, it didn't seemed to be as effective. Maybe they didn't care for the flavor...

2. I once knew a guy who had voles
His lawn was his hobby. Anyway, he used arsenic to do the voles in. When he was done he went inside and fixed himself a sandwich for lunch. He didn't wash his hands and almost did himself in. Lesson learned.

5. Put chewing gum down their holes
Chewing it will kill them, I am told. I used to have them but I just waited a few years and they disappeared. They eat the grubs that eat buried organic material like dead trees. After the grubs have consumed all the dead trees, no more grubs. No more grubs, no more moles. Even the milky spore will take a few summers to eliminate the grubs.

6. Mole traps work best
Of course you end up with a dead mole, though.

There are a couple of mole repellent doodads I've heard about...one is a battery powered tube that apparently sends out some sonic noise through the ground and reportedly drives them away. People have also said that those whirling plastic sunflowers also send a vibration into the ground that moles don't like.

11. Used to have a Sonoran Gopher snake
that would come around until the stupid neighbor kids killed it (Little shits!). Now the damn gophers/moles are back again. I just hope one of the other snakes gets big enough to take care of them again.
