International DUers please check in
I am a Yank :) but I wanna see who all is in DU international. Please tell the country and where in. That said Ive met French DUers, Canadian DUers, British DUers, German DUers, and I have met one Slovene DUer that was a long time ago and one Irish DUer living in California. Go on and tell me how to say something funny in your language if its not English. Like Bush is a fool or something.
:hi:

1. Shout out here from Toronto, Canada
Kelly Ripa from Regis & Kelly said this upon visiting Montreal:

"Canada! It's like being in another country!"

11. Hives rock!
I'll bet you get that all the time from us Yanks. Or is it ABBA you get most?

My father's father was from Skane, and my father's mother was from Gotland.

Skoal!

21. I got that a bit at V2003
Most of my mates watched the Hives there, but I buggered off to watch Killing Joke instead!

In case you are wondering V2003 is my local music festival.

9. England
England - where it's not (yet) either a crime or a sign of madness to be left-wing. Mind you, our so-called left-wing party would be unrecognisable to the Labour Party I joined back in the 70s. Some would say that this is a good thing but they are, of course, wrong. And stupid.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

If you don't mind me asking, which part of England are you in exactly? I'm somewhere in Essex at the moment.

16. ROFL! Welcome aboard mate.
Where (roughly) in the UK are you? We'll have to organise a UK DU event at some point....when I get back!

I'm originally a Midlander, but lived in London for 4 years until I left in Feb.

15. UK DUer, currently in Australia.......
I was taught how to say "I don't agree with the war in Iraq. It's the US government's fault" in Putonghua (Mandarin Chinese), because people kept bothering me in the street about it when I was there.

Unfortunately, I have forgotten it now...sorry.

My favourite thing in French is the Prayer of a Sceptic:

Mon dieu, s'il y a un dieu, garde mon ame, si j'ai un ame.

Apologies for the rough grammar, but it means "God, if there is a god, Save my soul....if I have a soul".

Oh, and try dubito ergo cogito, cogito ergo sum - Descartes "I doubt therefore I think, I think therefore I am".

The logic is actually false, but it's nice to have it in the original Latin!

P.
