David Blain cuts off ear, announces box/diaper stunt in London
That's Entertainment?

"American illusionist David Blaine has shocked a group of journalists by appearing to cut off part of his ear at a news conference to promote a forthcoming stunt.

The daredevil U.S. magician apparently drew blood after he was asked whether he could show the assembled reporters any new tricks. He borrowed a pocket knife and screamed as he applied it to his left ear...

The event was aimed at publicising Blaine's next major feat on September 5, when he will be suspended in a clear plexi-glass case by the River Thames for 44 days...

Blaine will be allowed to take diapers, a journal, some pens, lip balm, a pillow and a pad to lie on into the box. He said he currently weighs about 205 pounds and expects to lose about 45 pounds during the stunt."

Full story of this madman's latest pranks...someone tell him that slicing off your ear and shitting yourself in public does not constitute good TV.

1. hehe
What an interesting way to lose some weight. Although I thought you couldn't go that long w/o water.

2. I believe everyone agreed he should have water,
but I cannot fathom why.

I don't care much for stunts like this. I don't like Jackass either, although my husband watches occasionally. But I really hate Candid Camera. Always have. I hate the concept of humiliating unsuspecting persons for a buck. I think it demeans us all.

9. If You Dislike "Candid Camera", What Must You Think Of "Scare Tactics"??
Quite possibly one of the most disgusting shows on TV today. (That and "Crossing Over").

3. He has 2 tubes - one for urine, one for water......
I'm assuming that he's getting water pumped in and urine pumped out, although he's sufficiently insane to try it the other way around...

4. Ridiculous stunt but he's amazing
There have been a couple of television specials on him over the past couple of years.

His tricks are bizarre, confounding, and quite extraordinary. I remember one stunt where he bit the stone off a woman's ring, and had it emerge from beneath his lower eyelid.

I don't see much sense in this stunt other than to get publicity, but he's a remarkable talent, nontheless.

Seriously though, I did see that and he does do some absolutely amazing stuff. This is just crap though.

7. I could never get...
...how he does some stuff without an accomplice...

The thing where he threw the deck of cards at the store window.. and the lady's card was stuck to the OTHER SIDE of the glass.

I don't know man... I have no idea how he pulled that one off..

8. I Really Like His Upfront Magic Style, But. . .
. . .this stunt stuff is turning me off. I'm not one for grand illusion or daredeviltry. I'd much rather see him do his stuff in his up-close, "i dare you to see how i do it" style.

When he does that stuff, he's very cool.
