Ground Rules for DU for Primary Season?
This place is going to get very ugly once primary season kicks into gear. Are there plans to head this off? I wasn't around during the mid-term elections so I don't knwo what was done here, but from the current low-level of candidate-oriented nastiness, I can see things rapidly degenerating. What, if anything can be done to stop this?

2. I Was Just Wondering About This Myself

Given that there seems to be a cyclical undercurrent of assault on whatever candidate has the hot news story at the moment, I would expect things to devolve into a real Boardwalk Brawl once the Primary Season really begins to heat up.

Perhaps the number of mods could be expanded a new subsection called "Primary Brawling" can be set up? An expansion of mods would allow faster shunting of threads fighting over whatever new rumor, attack ad, or push poll is going on that hour into the Primary Brawling section.

Everyone still gets to have their say, but our existing forums won't be overrun with "XXX Is Bush Lite" or "YYY Is Unelectable."

3. A suggestion:
Some people love to attack gratuitously. Also, as far as I am concerned, you can add to the mix moles, Freepers, mouth-breathers and agents provocateur from competing campaign, here to do their dirty work.

Put the ones that really piss you off on ignore. If they are blatant and transparent instigators, alert the mods.

Works for me.

4. The Rules :
Edited on Tue Sep-02-03 01:31 PM by SoCalDem
Rule 1........If you see a candidate's name in the title... Run Awaaaaay....

Rule 2........If you DO click on a thread, disconnect your keyboard, IMMEDIATELY....

Rule 3........Refer to the candidates, if you must, as Candidate A, Candidate B, etc.. People will be confused, and will not respond until after you have left the thread..

Rule 4........Do NOT check back to see if anyone has responded, it will only make you angry, and we don't want you turning green and getting an attitude:)

Rule 5........See Rules 1-4:)

Rule 6........Hang out in the Lounge until the eventual candidate is chosen, and then act all surprised and giddy :)

6. Based on what's being said now
(1) Your candidate is a saint that can do no wrong.

(2) The other candidates are worthless imps of Satan who are all Repub-lite.

9. I'm remaining cool until it's upon us
I know which candidates I like, which ones I dislike.

Ain't worth bitchin' about until one is nominated.

The chances the candidate I want most to be nominated is very little.

The opponent is George W. Bush, although any Dem candidate who is for NAFTA, FTAA, and so on is just as bad as Bush in my opinion.

That's my two cents. You "moderates" can flame me now.
