I had dinner Sat. night at the table next to Olympia Snowe...
Edited on Tue Sep-02-03 03:35 PM by stoptheinsandity
turned out to be fairly interesting. went up to maine for the weekend to do some hiking, and my uncle and his girlfriend took me out to dinner saturday night. Was looking forward to a nice, relaxing dinner, when I turned around, and who should be at the table next to me but: Olympia Snowe and her husband Jock (ex-governor of Maine, don't know how to spell his last name) and his mother and family. I noticed them, and when I pointed them out to my table, it turned out that my uncle's girlfriend had gone to high school with Olympia in Maine (they sat next to each other), and my Uncle had been a rep in Congress with Jock, so they went over and talked to them for awhile (I just got intros, didn't want to talk politics b/c I didn't feel that I could hold my tongue and it was a nice establishment:) It was just odd to see a U.S. senator at such "close range" in a personal setting (i.e. not book-signing, stumping, etc...), just eating with family. I guess that "they are people too", but her husband definitely had that Republican look to him:) Don't know, just found it interesting, figured someone here might appreciate it:)

1. Olympia and Jock
McKernan. He's now the CEO of the Education Management Corporation.

I came "this close" to hitting her with a door at the Fort Fairfield Potato Blossom Festival last month. She's the best Repub Senator we have in this state so I didn't want to hurt her. :)

So tell us...where were you dining? ;)

4. Gotcha!
Thanks.

I'm on the opposite side of the state but I get over that way quite often.
