My wife and I have an invitation to a gay marriage ceremony |
|
in October. Two women that are known to our son invited us. We're going! This is a first. Although we know a lot of gay people through music and aren't homophobes by any means this is unique for us. Any suggestions?

There are no suggestions..it's like a real wedding..if the crowd is a fun crowd, you will have a good time..if it's not, you will be bored shitless..just like a real wedding.

Gifts are what any couple will need, the fact that it will be in a church is controversial, but so are we!

5. Not really controversial |

The Church of Religious Science has been doing them here in "conservative Orange County Ca" for about a decade or more.
YOu can always get them some "hers" and "hers" towels (they will probably get a kick out of it)

Don't you mean, "just like a hetero wedding"?
Not to be a word nazi, and I know you didn't mean to imply that gay marriage is a pretend thing...
And I agree with you on the no suggestions to make idea - sometimes they suck, sometimes they don't.
Probably a good bet that the reception will be fun. But as for the wedding, that's hit and miss, just like for anyone else. All depends on who's doing the service.

Don't keep bringing up your "gay friend" stories, just be you--that is why they invited you.
An example of what I mean: My brother is married to a Puerto-Rican woman and every time my sister (who is white) visits she talks about "my Puerto-Rican friend at work." We know she means well but laugh when she leaves.
My other sister is a lesbian with an African-American lover of 20 years, when this same sister is with them she talks about "my black friend at work." We love her and even kid her about it, but she can't break the habit.
