Poll question: Favorite Motown act of the 1960s?

I'll conduct a subsequent poll on the Motown artists of the '70s and beyond. However, with the exception of Marvin and Stevie's marvelous strings of albums, I think most will agree that the very best Motown came out of the 1960s!

By the way, I'm painfully aware that I left several great and well-known Motown acts out of the poll. Once again, it's those damned space restrictions! Oh, well. There's always "other," right?

2. The Tops! Levi Stubbs was so cool, they put him into "Sliders"
"Cryin' Man Brown"

Yah, right!

Anyway, while those are all great acts, the Tops stand above, IMHO!

12. The Four Tops rule!
I loved the Temps and Marvin and Smokey, but something about the Tops and their harmonies always got to me.

8. I cried when Marvin died
oh, that really sucked. I always nearly start blubbering when I hear him and Tammy on the radio. A tragic pair. I don't think Marvin every got over Tammy's death.

10. I was 18...

...and really just getting into Motown. I first heard about Marvin's death when the on-air D.J. at my local oldies station cut into a song to announce it. He then went right into "I Heard It Through The Grapevine."

9. Ooops! I meant to vote for the Supremes!
But, I voted for somebody else by mistake. :-(
This is a good poll. They're all good candidates. But, I still love Diana Ross and the Supremes. Such an era!

13. "Geezer music"?!

Dude, '60s Motown will sound fresh and exciting long after you and I have shuffled off this mortal coil. I'll take the Miracles over Nelly any day of the week!

15. I voted for The Temptations, but...
There are NO losers on the ballot (with the possible exception of "other")

Motown was such a treasure trove of American music. There's not a talent roster anywhere in the world today that even comes close.

And Junior Walker and the All-Stars never got their props. By rights, an outfit that funky belonged on Stax!! </heresy>
