2. Well?
Have you and do you believe everything you hear?

I hit a bar in Ft Lauderdale the afternoon after a 14-hour drive and washing the bugs off my MGB.

I was dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans; I didn't know that it was a biker bar and a black t-shirt were the only "colors" allowed.

You know, they were from all over the country and probably the most friendly people I've ever met.

Drive by, but judge for yourself.

3. Also Overtown
Its in the area of the Miami Arena (not the American Airlines arena) if you want a reference.

In regard to the other poster who said "discover for yourself." If you decide to go to Liberty City, you do so at your own risk.

4. I can vouch for that!
Normally if you don't live in those areas I wouldn't necessarily put them on anyone's sightseeing route....so yes, you have heard pretty correctly

5. be careful in that area...
There are alot of places that invlove a maze on one-way streets.. and if you make a wrong turn you may not be able to find your way back on course..

And there are people who prey on people who get lost in this manner...especially tourists

Stay out of Overtown, Little Haiti, Little Havana, defninitely Liberty City and Carol City.....

I try not to set foot in Dade county unless I absolutely have to.

Little Haiti? Little Havana? How would you eat at the Haitian and Cuban restaurants if you don't go there?

I don't agree with that

10. I wonder why nothing ever seems to change those places?
Kids get born and raised into a cycle of Poverty. Poorly maintained Public Schools, deteriorating infrastructure...All in the Mostest Powerfullest Country in the History of the World.

Just don't go there, that's the ticket, out of sight out of mind.

11. Why are you asking about the bad parts not the good ones?
Miami-Dade is after all the largest county in the state and the good parts just may outweight the bad. Every large metropolitan area has "bad parts of town" after all.

Avoid downtown Miami and the areas bordering on it. There.

So why don't you tell us about the GOOD places you've been or have ben recommended to see?

12. like any other big city there are high crime areas there....
...but i've walked around outside miami arena and taken the rail to and from sports events there and i've never had a problem. if you're in these areas just don't invite problems by looking frightened.

also, i don't remember hialeah being bad. i dated a nice young lady from hialeah and it was fine. so was she :9 .
