Why is it that the value of my vehicle goes down every year, yet my premium keeps going up? My car is now almost 3 years old, yet my policy just increased by $120/year. What a scam!
Not to mention my home owner's insurance going up almost $300 this year. I sure wish Governor Perry would get his good hair outta his a$$, forget about re-districting, and start getting some good old fashioned justice for us Texans. Fat chance 'o that happening.

:wtf::wow:
I must be really lucky then...my insurance went down the last two renewals. I went with GEICO; they were 50% less than damned Allstate and I have more coverage. Now GEICO offers homeowner's and other property insurance.
But, since I only have renter's insurance (which is cheap) I am clueless about property rates.
Gov. Gridlock would NEVER shaft his insurance buddies...NEVER!!! x(

That I insure with Amica, which is easily one of the most expensive insurance companies around. But I've always considered them "reasonable" until now. Their rates have never risen this much in the past. I think I'll look into increasing my deductible (again) and see if that changes things.
I insure my home with Farmers (the company that Good Hair almost ran out of Texas). Their policy is extremely reasonable and, after talking to my rep for a long time, I can understand why my policy went up. But Good Hair and Farmers also agreed that my rates would ultimately go down ... and so far this just ain't so.

2. Insurance companies lost megabucks in the stock market |

by gambling premiums and losing. USAA raised my rates by 14% this year - my car is four years old. They are getting back their losses by raising premiums. Check consumerwatchdog.org for the major insurance companies that did this. USAA was one of them.

Well I feel "a little bit" better because an article on that website had this to say about Amica:
"J.D. Power also rates auto insurers. The latest ratings at www.jdpower.com show Amica insurance as the top company in the nation. Amica scored five out of five points in all categories: overall experience, coverage options, pricing competitiveness, claims handling and satisfaction with representative."

And I've got a high deductible. I'll have to look into maybe going with a $750-1,000 deductible and see if that lowers my payments any. Ugh!

4. Mandatory Insurance = Coerced Monopolistic Profiteering |

Texans are notorious for voting against their own economic interest. So, they support venal legislators who plot behind closed doors to come up with reasonable-sounding schemes that help widen the gap between the filthy rich and the folks who are content and happy if they can just say "howdy" when the Cowboys come on the TeeVee.

6. Guess what my auto insurance did to me... |
|
I used to pay 800-something a year for full coverage until I put my teenaged daughter and her car (w/just liability) on it. That brought me up to 1400 until she got in a bad accident and totaled her car....
No more kid's car, and daughter physically unable to drive till she recovered about a month later. They only paid out 1 thousand for her accident because she only had liability but then turned around and reclassified ME into a high risk category which meant I'd have to pay 2300 a year on just my car. My record is spotless. I called them up to complain and they were unapologetic because of my daughter's accident. I said that she's not even on my policy anymore because she has no car and is afraid to drive. Didn't matter. As long as she was in my home I had to pay that.
So I asked them what would happen she goes to college. They said they'd consider her a "weekend driver" unless she's more then 100 miles away. Whatta racket they've got going! :grr:
