Man Holds Neighbors Cat Hostage
<snip>

GILLETTE, Wyo. -- Deryl Miles is accused of cat nabbing.

Miles, 55, allegedly kidnapped his neighbor's cat and held it hostage for $50 after the animal wandered into his yard.

He was arrested Tuesday on misdemeanor larceny charges for allegedly trapping the cat, named Brunswick, in a wooden shed behind his mobile home, according to court documents.

Surrounded by police, Miles called a local newspaper from his trailer and said "I've taken (the cat) legally because it was trespassing on my property."

Miles refused to release the cat, and was arrested after leading police on a brief chase around his yard, court documents stated.

1. This should be on Free Rep. they are into this stuff.
They would have 98 items on the right of the capnapper to shoot the police, cat, men next door, and local reporter. 35 items on the Bible on cat napping and why we have that God given right. And 110 items on why Clinton made the man do it. All we will say is Poor Cat and is cat OK?

3. Give that man a Calis whomp!!
Edited on Thu Sep-04-03 07:17 AM by progrocker69
Calis is a cat my wife and I have who has a knack for just GLOMMING onto people and our other cats like it's his God-given right. He's friendly as anything and full of personality, but he's also about 275 pounds and when you're in bed fast asleep only to suddenly have him rolling around on top of you it's an interesting experience to say the least.

I think a few Calis whomps will set this loser straight.

13. I love Calis!
What a cutie. And he looks overfed and pampered, the way a cat should be.

5. If I was on the jury
this might be the only time I would vote for the death penalty. I mean you have to teach nutty neighbors on Main Street USA that this is unacceptable behavior. Not to mention if they are given the death penalty they will never be able to commit a catnapping crime again.

6. No, no, no!
Better than the death penalty--many hours of community service, at a local animal shelter--cleaning the litter boxes!

8. I have been dealing with the same thing
My neighbors have two cats that consider my property theirs. I have discussed this with animal control-but I have no legal recourse in my county except civil court. I am clueless on what to do except kill my neighbors. I would never harm a cat. Kill neighbors, kill neighbors, kill neighbors.

I have tried to discuss it with them but it falls on deaf ears.

10. i made my neighbors put a bell on their cat
who 'uses' my yard. the Mrs has numerous bird feeders and i told them i was taking their cat (who killed numerous birds) to the shelter unless they put a collar with a bell on it.

i am a cat lover (have 2 of my own) but they do NOT roam the neighborhood (indoor only).

at least the bell keeps the birdies on guard

14. My neighbor's dogs come on my property all the time
They're both pit bulls, too. Fortunately, they're not vicious, just dumb as a box of rocks. They like me a great deal because I made the mistake of petting them once. Don't think they get any affection at home. No way in hell I would ever kidnap those dogs.
