The official Football hating thread! |
|
I absolutely despise everything about this game. Admittedly I'm not a sports fan, but I can most definitely appreciate the many skill sets involved in, and the pacing and stamina of basketball, hockey, and even the traditional elements of baseball enough to enjoy the occassional game and understand why people would enjoy those sports.
But there is absolutely nothing appealing to me about a bunch of steak-headed oversized guys moving a couple of feet and then piling on each other. And yes, I've had people attempt to explain to me how nuanced the game is and how there's sooooo much more there but even their explanations only prove to me how boring a game it is. And this is coming from someone whose family has season tickets to both the Giants and the Jets and are rabid football fans.
Booooooooooring.

2. I'd not go as far as 'hate' |
|
It's more like :wtf: this is supposed to be fun?
Seems to be a cultural thing.

5. The size of the players is almost too much to comprehend |
|
Pro football will soon have a 400 pound interior lineman. And being a profootballer is not good for long term health. John Madden said something like just one down in profootball can harm a player for life. I'll take soccer. Closer to average size people, and good for American kids for exercise. My son played in AYSO soccer for years. Never football and(thank to non-existant god) little league baseball for only one year.

6. Giants and Jets dont play football |
|
They play with dolls and have tea parties. You should visit Lambeau field, the frozen tundra, where a real team plays

12. Not sure if you're serious or not.... |
|
But this is kinda what I'm talking about. There just seems to be way too much insecurity involved in the whole thing.

You know what I hate ?
People who spend too much time letting everyone know what they hate. It its pointless. See ?
Cheers Drifter
PS - I do not hate anyone for that reason. I am merely making a ironic point.

and reading the stereotypes that people on this thread are parleying about makes me wonder if they have ever done anything apart from wake up, eat, work and sleep.

9. I hate European Football, i.e. Soccer |
|
Bunch of pony-tailed one-named Euro sissies playing keep-away for 2 hours. One puss touches another any they go down grabbing their ankle and crying for their mommy.
I wish I had said this first:
"I wouldn't watch world cup soccer if they played it in my back yard and served free beer."

20. I lived in England for a while |

and loved the after game fights. Soccer houligans were a serious problem over there. For a while England was not allowed to play on the continent.

10. Can't stand football or boxing. |
|
I just don't understand why sports have to be violent-it really sickens me. I'll take tennis, gymnastics, even soccer anyday. Soccer isn't SUPPOSED to be violent, nor is hockey, but the people playing it get carried away. Football is all about knocking the shit out of the opposite team. I really don't get it.

I actually do respect the varied types of skills required to put together a football team. It's the fans I hate. Just look at just how stupid and ignorant the average football fan is.

First off, it interupts my favorite TV show.
Secondly, it's stupid.
Third, I've dealt with too many football players to actually watch them make fools of themselves on TV.
Fourth, it's stupid.

18. Stupid torpid game... |
|
in which a bunch of overpadded steroidal freaks stand around either talking or waiting for a ref's decision while a stadium full of dangerously abusive drunks scream for blood and dynamite. The rules are obtuse and indecipherable...the fans insufferable...the players brutes thugs and criminals. Other than that it's a dandy way to waste time and money.

All that wasted money...millions and millions of dollars poured down an endless black-hole that has virtually nothing to do with education. Sad.

After a week so bad I seriously considered ending my life, I am going to walk into a sports bar, order an Amstel Light, and watch my Redskins in the season opener. I couldn't be more excited about it.
What's your problem with people having a hobby they enjoy? Nobody's forcing you to watch football, are they? Why "hate"? Seems like an awful waste of time.
