Ok, some drawings from the sketchbook of Walter "Matt" Jefferies----guy who designed Star Trek sets, uniforms, shuttlecraft, Enterprise, etc. and of course he's the fellow for whom the Jefferie's Tube is named. Very cool! Sorry to say he passed away last year.

The engineering log book from the ship The S.S. United States from like 1957. (found it with some stuff that belonged to my grandfather (may he rest in peace) after he passed away... my g-ma gave it to me with his WW2 models)

Also, several bills of the old Iraqi dinar, with Saddam's face on it.. (I have a 5, 10, 25 100 and 250 I believe.. mind condition)

Um...... my Rabbit in the Moon "Phases of an Out of Body Experience" 12".. (if I had to pick a prized posession, that would certainly be in the running)

Um.... lets see.....

I guess that's it for now.. (I'm pretty lame)

I used to have that Slayer 'blood pack' CD but it got stolen long ago..

20. I only have a couple of things,
one is a little china tray from after WWII, on the back it is stamped "Berlin US Zone", a whimsy bottle whittled by my great grandfather with all of the tools they used on the Railroads, a china piece bought over by my mothers parents stamped "Germany", from when they left Berlin in 1934, a stamped envelope, 1937, sent by my dad
aboard the USS Chaumont (Christ Help All Of Us Marines Aboard Naval Transport) crossing the international dateline going to Peping.

A "JFK 464" California license plate my Dad had made for his car, prior to Kennedy's assasination.

I'm still trying to find the Look Magazine from 1956 showing my sis and I hugging Adlai Stevenson at the San Diego Airport.

My Bluebird and GirlScout buttons.

And, if anyone really wants it, I have a 1918 edition of Steep Trails by John Muir, you can have it, I'll mail it to you. Seriously. It's just gathering dust here.

An original Oscar Meyer Weiner Whistle.

Oh, almost forgot, my car - a 1968 VW Van (Combi), which has been all over the country, up to Alaska, and down to the tip of Baja.

25. A chess set handcarved by my great, great, great grandfather
while he was a prisoner in a Yankee prison camp. Every piece is there except for one pawn, all the pieces are in great shape. He used juice from a wild berry to stain half of the set. The set has been stored in an ice cream carton which bears a date of 1892.

Family lore indicates he played chess with his jailers. When he was released he moved to Texas.

29. Some
Besides a lot of old stuff from grandparents (furniture, clothing, coins) and some old books from the 19th century I got a stone age blade made of obsidian, which I found on an Italian island. Also, I have aquired some meteorites and tektites (glassy minerals produced by a meteorite impact), rarest one is a piece of libyan glass, that had been used as a prehistoric scraper. I also some old Tibetan silver coins, the oldest one more than 250 year old.

handed and signed by Roger Clements. OK, it belongs to my son. Roger gave it to him in Florida during spring training. He was playing for the Red Sox at the time. There were many vultures trying to get this baseball but he handed it to my nine year old son who was a fat kid and not a big fan at the time. Well, he is a handsome man today and a bigtime RED SOX fan (my son). He is also a Clements fan....no matter what.

32. A glass given out to St. Louis Cardinals fans in 1965.
It commemorates the Cardinals World Series win in 1964. It has embossed signatures of all the players and coaches. My parents each got one in 1965 (pre me). They gave one to me when I moved out. Unfortunately the one I wasgiven was knocked off a shelf by workmen pounding on the outside wall. Luckily I found a replacement on eBay.

I also have a couple dollar bills in the form of silver certificates.

54. Great! I have a field-worn Angels jersey of the late Jimmie Reese...
Who, as a member of the Yankees in 1930-31, was Babe Ruth's roomie!

Reese, who was friends with pitcher Nolan Ryan (Ryan named one of his sons after Reese), was the Angels' conditioning coach from 1972 up to the time he passed away, at age 92 in 1994! His uniform #50 was retired by the club. O8)

I'm going to put the jersey in a display case and hang it behind my desk at home.

my head. I know about Jimmie Reese. I sobbed when he died. I am sooooooooooooooooooooo homesick, and I get that way whenever I read one of your posts, rezmutt. :pals:

Have a great time at the game! (The last time I saw the Halos play the White Sox, it was Pudge's -- the original and one and only PUDGE -- Carlton Fisk's -- last game. And I don't remember which at bat or what it meant to the outcome of the game, but he hit a home run and everyone in the stadium went nuts.)

76. I checked my baseball
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 11:12 PM by Paul_H
and it's signed by Jimmie Reese, too!

Right under where it says "OFFICIAL American League Ball".

That's cool.... now I know the ball is from 1930-31.

I inherited it from my dad and he never told me about it or showed it to me when he was alive, and my mom knew nothing about where it came from.

My dad was born in 1930; I wonder if grandpa took him to a game as a baby and somehow got the ball autographed.

Other names I can make out (the ball is full of 'em):

Babe Ruth (very prominent)
Lou Gehrig
Jimmie Reese
Ed Wells
Earle Combs
Lyn Lary
Tony Lazzeri
Myril Hoag--- he was only on the '31 team... the ball is from '31!
Art Jorgens
Joe Sewell
Henry Johnson
Ben Chapman
Herb Pennock
Jim Weaver
C.R. Ruffing
Dusty Cooke
Lefty Gomez
George Pipgras
Bill Dickey

There are more... I'll have to check.

Thanks for that post about Reese; I didn't know enough about baseball from 30 years before I was born to be able to date the ball until tonight.

53. I have a leftover chunk of the granite that was used to create...
the Vietnam memorial. Years ago, I interviewed the man in the Chicago south suburbs who owned the stoneyard that provided the stone for the memorial. He liked me and gave me a leftover chunk.

It is on my computer desk and I can see it now.

66. A tenor sax once owned by Ben Webster.
I even have the original bill of sale framed with a picture of Ben playing it. It's my primary gig-horn, because I promised someone that I'd play it every chance I got. Sweet axe, too.

72. You won't believe this, but ...
An autographed copy of Muscle and Fitness signed by ... yup, you guessed it--Der Gropenator!

It is also signed by a bunch of other weight-lifer types from the late 80's. My mother worked for a company that made weightlifting collars (Quick-lee was the name of the company, I think.) Anyway, she was at this huge industry show in Atlanta where she was in a meeting with Joe Wieder's folks ... including both Joe and Ah-nold.

I also *had* a poster signed by both Joe Montana and John Elway, also from the same convention.
