Anyone else feel sorry for McCain?
I realize there's a wealth of opinions at DU about the man, I fall into the "admire/respect him with reservations" category. He's the only Repub I could imagine ever voting for, and Allah only knows what * is holding over him to corral his support in this farce. I was dumbfounded by his "I can't stay angry" stance about the SC 2000 smear campaign, and find myself perpetually reading between the lines of his public statements, though maybe I'm just parsing for something that doesn't exist and which I just wish did.

Still, I picture this man in a tiger cage 30 years ago and my heart hurts for him.

I think a lot of people project their hopes and dreams--that an honest, tragic hero Republican exists--onto him. He doesn't hold up under that weight, in my view.

He'll be on the Daily Show tonight, and it will be interesting to see what he has to say.

4. No......
He reaps what he sows....If he had came over to the Democratic Party, he would of been embraced....He chose poorly.

Enough said.

5. Sadly not anymore
He has demonstrated to me that when push-comes-to-shove he is a partisan Republican first and an American second.

6. I feel sorry for what he went through in Vietnam
and for what Bush's goons did to him in2000. But after this campaign -- not so sorry. When I saw him hug Shrub it was clear he'd handed over his soul and his balls for who knows what political advantage. ANd even after they'd slimed his family. WTF is wrong with him. Nope. Don't feel sorry any more.

Sometimes a bit, but then I think of how he's selling himself out so cheaply, and I get over it real fast.

Perhaps I'm holding on to what I think he was capable of being rather than facing up to what he has become?

14. did you see Letterman?
Michael Moore was on and related that he heard McCain interviewed that speech he gave was from Bush camp. McCain came on later and admitted he was "given" speech.

Can't feel sorry for him.....

15. Did you see Letterman last night?
McCain was on and Letterman asked him about the "disingenuous film maker" remarks. McCain claimed he didn't know Moore was in the convention hall when he made the remarks. I doubt this, from the video I saw it seemed like McCain looked up into the cheap seats in Moore's direction when he made the remark. From this and other things I have to
say I don't feel sorry for McCain at all. He made his bed, he can lie in it.

If he did, he would destroy PNAC for what they did to him. He won't, he'll shill for whatever crumbs fall from their table.

his wife for having to put up with so much ugliness from the Repugs when JM ran in 2000.
