I put a marshmallow in the microwave and nuked it for 5 minutes, just ask!
It grew larger and larger and larger.

Then it started to puff down again. The inside was hollow.

As it puffed down, it burned from within and MELTED HOLES on the side and the bottom of the plastic container I put the marshmallow in!

This is so cool! Especially seeing the burnt interior and how, looking through the melted plastic into the hole it looked like oozed burnt skin...

I'm going to try a CD next, I gather if you nuke 'em, they crack and make fractal-like shapes on the surface!

I wonder what it'll do to a gerbil...

2. more fun....
put a lightbulb in there and turn it on - but only for a few seconds.

Get a plate of marshmallow Peeps, stick toothpicks in 'em, and nuke'em for a couple minutes. It's called Peep-Wars. You can place wagers.

nuke a twist-tie for a few seconds (warning: arcing WILL occur!)

6. No CD, no plastic at all
Unless you've been smoking glue, inhaling smoking/melting plastic is about as bad for your mind and body as it can get.

Stick to marshmallows and toothpicks.

But, can't you borrow some Legos or an Erector Set or maybe some Lincoln Logs from one of the neighbor kids? They're pretty entertaining...and not environmentally threatening...
