3. Yes, I'm hearing impaired since
about the age of 23. It's been progressive and closed captioning is my salvation.

I'm watching the debate now CC and reading DU if the eyes go I'm screwed!

When people think it's funny to move their mouths without emitting any sound. I feel like kicking their asses

9. Hearing, but disability activist
even exchanged a few signs with Miss Deaf Hawai'i at our recent Sign Language Festival!

A group of Dean supporters who are deaf have set up their own "Dean for Deaf America" blog:

http://deanfordeafamerica.blogspot.com/

The Dean campaign itself has issued a detailed statement on disability rights.

http://www.deanforamerica.com/site/PageServer?pagename=policy_statement_civilrights_disabilityrights

This is not a paid Dean ad, either. I checked ALL the candidates' Web sites, and of the others, only Kerry's has a mention of disability, pegged mostly to his Social Security policy.

11. Hearing impaired Father-in-law
got me hooked on watching captioned TV. I do it now a lot - when you have young kids running around sometimes its easier to read than to hear what is going on.

12. i am a hearing caption fan too
I am a text-oriented person (for example, I prefer command-line computing) so I love captioned TV even though I am hearing. It's annoying when they get translate things wrong too!
