2. Neil does the shopping! By Order.
Oh, lah dee dah, what do I have here but a pair of Felicity Kendall's underpants..."

"Hurry up with the vindaloo, hippy!"

"Shirley...is that your name? SHHIIIRRRLLEYYY?!"

So...Vivyan.

PS--if anyone votes for Mike, I'll kill them.

Yeah, Mike was a bit of an odd one really. I hear that the actor didn't get on with the others very well. He certainly disappeared after the YOs, unlike the others.

6. everytime he said anything--even if marginally funny,
it absolutely silenced the studio audience.

What a prat he must be.

8. Alexei Sayle. He's hilarious!
He had his own limited-run comedy show, called "Stuff". He's a riot, and a full-blown Socialist, to boot! His politics often show in his comedy. If you ever come across it on video, it's worth a rent!

14. Actually, thinking about it....
The guy who played Mike also appears (either as Hedgehog or Spudgun, can't remember) in one episode of Bottom, the Mayall/Edmundson comedy from BBC2.

So they can't have hated him that much.

9. Well, definitely not Rick, but we....
...quote him a least once a week in our home, when someone says they're bored.
"God I'm bored. I might as well be listening to Genesis.....Marrow...meringue....boomerang....long blue boomerang".

I like Neil Pye, best; the Mr. likes the Vyvyan Basterd character.

13. can't even pick one
Mike was kind of an afterthought, it seems (I think his part was intended for another actor, so he came in at the last minute). But don't ask me to choose between (P)Rick, Vyvyan and Neil (, Neil, Orange Peel!) because I can't!

You can buy a 3-DVD set of with all the episodes now (which I did, the day I bought my DVD player). The 3rd disc has interviews and an episode each of Bottom and Filthy Rich & Catflap.
