So Long ESPN
So I turn on ESPN last night for a little pre-football info and guess who's spouting about QB Jake Plummer and others? Why it's our favorite Liberal hating SOB, Rush Limbaugh!

Sorry ESPN...I don't listen to or watch Rush because quite frankly, he's a right wing lying zealot who is a danger to my Country!

So...I will simply stop clicking on your network and find the info I'm looking for at other venues!

And it's a shame too.... I'll miss Chris Berman.

2. Time to call ESPN
I did it when they made this announcement. Time to do it again. I also think it might help to contact the NFL and let them know we will not watch ANY football until fat boy is off the air.

4. it won't work all the controversy will only help
let the man do his espn thing and hopefully he will fail. We can hope tht he'll forget he's on someone elses show and continually intrrupt them when they disagree or just start plain out lying to make his points. then one of the ex nflers can put him in a headlock

14. Best thing to do is not watch, then watch the numbers fall. That combined
with our email efforts from earlier this summer should speed him to the door.

3. Me too trumad...........
and I so love football season but now there is a big black cloud getting ready to rain on it. I thought ESPN was smarter than to hire a political hack as commentator.

5. I am a huge football fan ...
I did not watch the game because I figured he would be on (I believe ESPN and ABC are conspiring to put this blow hard onthe air). I will no longer even consider watching a football game on either ESPN or ABC. Monday Night was my favorite game of the week.

I will check out the highlights on the news.

This whole Rush thing makes me ill. This is nothing more than a cheap ploy to lure in new unsuspecting listeners. I'm sure there are actually people who have no idea who Rush Limbaugh is (believe it or not). I think his appearance with a new market of people will lure a few of them in to "see what this guy is all about". I really feel sorry for someone who does not have many opinions regarding politics, and is molded by the likes of Rush.

Cheers
Drifter

6. Rush is an idiot.
He'll probably bitch if NFL teams don't run all their plays to the right.

9. I feel ya trumad
I miss Boomer's commentary too.

I won't give ESPN.com any more hits. I get my sports info from SI.com.

I tried to disable my espn.com account but couldn't so I changed my profile info to something like Rush L is hateboy and ESPN sucks.

I don't have cable so I don't get any of their networks. The hardest thing for me this year is avoiding ABC because they carry a lot of Big 10 football in my area. (with the ESPN + logo)

15. I don't get the logic of Limpdick's hiring
They get the redneck crowd as it is. "It's macho to watch football!" Since EXPN is owned by ABC, maybe it is a sop to Al Michaels. His right wing views are well known. Maybe Righton Al wants to get a fellow wingnut some extra work.

16. It seems like there is a "vast rightwing conspiracy" in the NFL.
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 09:58 AM by Finnfan
I had already decided that I would not be watching ESPN's pregame show anymore. So I turn on the Jets-Redskins game at 9:00 last night and whose smirking face did I see? The chimp himself, introducing the opening of the 2003 season! (With a shameful nod to the US troops dying for his oil).

Al Michaels, who I used to like, made several snide comments about being a Republican last season (and on an unrelated subject, did anyone else laugh out loud at his hairpiece last night?).

So it seems to me that the NFL feels that most of its fans are right-wingers, and it is making deliberate steps to appeal more strongly to that audience. :puke:
