Depressed over media treatment of Kerry tonight--can anyone cheer me up? |
|
Please? I am being sincere....this really has me down and I almost never feel down about things...I try to stay optimistic, but I want to kick something and cry right now.

and I'm about to shut off the computer for the night, but I hate to do it on a sour note. Thus the plea.
The video is pretty good.

24. bush was giving a stump speech in Poplar Bluff, MO |
|
yesterday and he was trying to talk about the evil trial lawyers and malpractice suits forcing doctors out of the field of medicine and he said "OBGYNS can't share their love with women..."
Yep. He ACTUALLY said that.

How ANYONE IN HIS RIGHT MIND can vote for this mindfucked fool is beyond me.
You listening, freepers? You've quoted me before on your boards & users' blogs. Go to it again, buds. :eyes: Your guy is a blistering idiot who can't lead himself out of a wet paper bag. He's a puppet of both the radical right and the rich fools who piss on the rest of us.
Good God, people, vote for a real man. "I request service in Vietnam." That ain't fiction, fellas, like your boy's "service" in the TANG.

He doesn't want to drive five hours to vote and he doesn't want to fill out the paperwork to request an absentee ballot either.

That's right after the Daily Show! Well 30 minutes after, but I can wait.
I never miss The Daily Show. What network carries Olbermann and who is this guy?

20. I hear Olberman's not bad. Strangely, he used to be the sports anchor on |
|
CBS's L.A. affiliate. Everyone's gotta start somehwere.
I've never watched him in politics. Usually if I watch talking heads -- even if they're liberal, because invariably they have to discuss things with conservatives* -- my head explodes.
* Mrs. V. used to watch Inside Washington: Nina Totenburg, Colby King, Jack Germond, Evan __________ (from Newsweek), Gordon Peterson -- and Charles Krauthammer.

Ironically, he told me that when I was walking to the courthouse to update MY registration (change in dorm room).
Now I get to work on my roommate, who leans Dem but feels he "isn't informed enough on the issues." I should have him check out DU and FR--the contrast is huge and he will learn very quickly.:)

Because of the documents that came out today? Anything good? I read a thread about it in GD but it didn't look like anything ground-breaking.
And I am looking forward to the Kitty Kelly book....

We all know those polls showing Kerry trailing by 11 are bogus because they way oversampled Repubs, yet the Kerry campaign doesn't seem to be going out of its way publicly to debunk them. I believe they know the next batch of polls will show the race about even, and they want to make it look like Bush blew an 11-point lead.
Also, if the Bush campaign was actually in front, Cheney wouldn't be making dumbass remarks about a Kerry victory inviting a terrorist attack, which smells of desperation.

14. I just saw the ABC report by Jake Tappert |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 08:32 PM by My Pet Goat
on the ABC website. If this is what is getting everyone's dander up, then I agree it was bad but I disagree that it was that terrible.
They showed Cheney making his hideous statement, then Edwards got in a good soundbite ridiculing the statement as fearmongering.
I think where the report went wrong was when Tappert stated that the Repubs. found support for their attack from a statement made by Kerry during his DNC speech. The report then cut to Kerry's DNC speech where he said he would strike back hard if attacked. The idea being that the Repubs. were twisting this statement into an "only attack when attacked" position. This seemed ridulous to me, so I'm not sure how persausive the average "news" viewer found the Repub's charge. Plus, Kerry got in a pretty good, tough acting soundbite.
I think there was another political report in ABC news tonight dealing with how Kerry is behind. I've have not found that yet on the website but perhaps this report was the one that got everyone pissed off.

19. Kerryis going to win! |
|
I have no idea where the liberal :eyes: media got the idea that the RNC was more successful than the DNC. I watched about 3/4 of the RNC and detected no real energy -- nothing like the energy at the DNC. The Democratic base is energized and hopeful about the future, and can't wait to vote for Kerry; the Republican base, on the other hand, doesn't seem energized at all. They mock Kerry, but how energizing is that? I don't think mocking the opponent gets out the vote as well as promising a hopeful, beautiful future the way Kerry and Edwards do.
Please don't worry. Kerry will win, and he will be one of the greatest American presidents ever.:toast:

talking points from the white house. Keith Olbermann one night had Joe Wilson on to discuss the publishing of his wife's name..she was a deep undercover CIA agent tracking WMDs. Keith showed some sheets of paper with some suggested questions from the white house that he should ask Joe.

damn. I knew it was bad, but THAT bad? Sheesh.
We have no free press in America. We need to just say it. The fourth estate is dead. Media is corporate owned and controlled and corporations are in bed with the government, thus we HAVE NO FREE PRESS.
None. The guys who DO give both sides and strive to be objective and bring news stories to the table we need to hear about are tiny and drowned out by the corporate shills.
It's a sorry state of things. What's next?
