food safety ? - cooked rice in fridge |
|
OK, don't be grossed out - I have a casserole that has cooked brown rice, feta cheese, yogurt, pine nuts and herbs. It's been in my fridge since the 29th. Yes, that's 10 days. Of course, because of the yog and feta, everything still tastes good - but is it safe to eat? I want to stuff a zucchini with it, if I won't kill my family in the process. :puke:

3. It's a mold and bacteria factory. Toss it. |

Anything with meat or dairy lasts 2-4 days. 10 days and you'll be fighting for the toilet!

It has dairy in it, so 2-3 days max and it should be tossed. 10 days is out of the question.

I'll toss it, despite the fact that I like the way Cheezus and Unblock think! It really does taste good, but I think the feta does a nice job of masking moldy flavors! :D
Now I have to find something to stuff into that zuke before our 400 bales of hay show up to unload. I want dinner (and a fat vodka tonic) waiting for me when we get in tonight, and nobody else is here to make it... :(
oops! sorry for my rudeness, edited to add THANKS for all the responses, even though most of you didn't give me the answer I wanted to hear! :toast:

Don't listen to your mother's voice in your head saying, 'wasting food is a sin. Think of the starving children in <insert name of developing nation here>'. I once suggested to my mother that we ship our leftovers to China (her favorite developing nation example), which was met with a stony gaze.
