Good dark beer, from San Francisco. Those of you who like Guiness would like it. Trust me. I voted for Guinness though among the options here.

Anchor Steam Beer is a lager recipe that is fermented at an ale temperature (hence the steam) and loses something in the translation. It lacks the crispness of a lager because of the high fermenting temperature and the mellowness/smoothness of an ale because of the lager yeast, the worst of both worlds. Hey, just my opinion.

Interesting, Anchor Steam Beer was an all but defunct San Francisco brewery until Fritz Maytag (of Maytag Cheese) acquired the label and reintroduced the beer as a novelty in the late 60's. I'll stick with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, a true barley sandwich.

I remember that beer fondly from when I was 3 to 8 years old!!

NO!!! I wasn't a preschool lush, It was the beer my dad drank on camping and fishing trips. Pabst Blue Ribbon hold a special place in my heart that none of these (to my eyes) johnny-come-lately yuppie suds can touch.

For me, just seeing the can is a rush of nostalgic memories of muddy Tennessee lakes and TVA campgrounds. Now if theyed only make the old-fashioned cans with the pull tabs, I'd be all set.

and a wheat beer I had once at a microbrewery in reno, nv. I don't remember the name of the brewery or the beer, but I remember being really impressed with it. Yum.

Newcastle Brown Ale, a malty delight.
Spaten Ur-Maerzen, the fuel of a thousand Oktoberfests.
All the wonderfully spicy Belgian Abbey ales, dubbels and tripels.
Sheaf Stout--from Australia, a bit more on the sweet side
than Guinness, and simply delicious.
Seems I could go on and on...but I can't leave out the
distinctive brews crafted by the members of my local
homebrewing club. You really find out what beer is supposed
to be like when you have an American Pale Ale made with
absolutely fresh hops picked from the brewer's back yard.
